Look at the Mozilla post - seems promising although most seem to be using IExplorer.

I use and like FastBrowser (a pay product) but there is a free browser which looks identical called Crazy Browser. It is fast, has tabs so I can load several pages at the same time. I read 1 page while others are loading in the background. If I get a foreign page, I can translate it without leaving the browser.
http://download.com.com/3150-2356-0.html?tag=dir  is a link that has 219 alternative browsers. I didn't page through but I'm sure Crazy Browser is there if you care to try it.

Are all of those actual stand-alone browsers, or just IE front-ends?

I use Mozilla 1.1. The tabbed browsing and built-in popup stopper are especially useful.

Crazy browser is a new front end for IE... that's why the download is so small...

Cool

blsJason, if you are looking for browsers that aren't dependent on IE, there are a few I've tried: InternetSurfer, Off by One(browser that fits on a floppy), QNX(operating system and browser on a floppy). I'm sure that there are others. You can usually tell in the description if you need IE installed or not.

Where exactly can I read about and download the alternative browsers "InternetSurfer", "Off by One", and "QNX"? I'd be interested in giving them a try.

Thanx.

Thank you plodr for the info on Crazy Browser. This is a great addition to my IE6.0. I love it. It cured one annoying problem I had with a java charting site. With Sun`s latest JAVA 2 Runtime Enviroment SE v1.4.0_01 software I was having a problem with Microsoft error reporting messages shutting down all my browsers when I would try to load this one page. Crazy Browser suppresses script errors which I think is the problem on the java charting page I try to load. Anyway, Everything is working great now. No shutdowns now; thanks to Crazy Browser. Opera is pretty fast and has tabbed windows. It does have compatibility problems with some sites. Excellent back-up. I use it as my primary browser.  www.webattack.com  has a long list of browsers in the freeware section.

Scott, here's a tip for Crazy Browser... It installs with a universal popup stopper activated so it stops all the popups automatically... just in case you or anyone else who uses it actually likes to see the popups at least once (I do, never know when it might actually be for a good deal) you can turn the full-time popup stopper off and then you can use the other which will allow you to add the individual popup to a list to be blocked... so you only see'um once...

Cool

I have been using myIE off and on for about a month now and it works great for me! So far it's a lot of fun but I don't use it exclusively though. It's very user friendly, so why not give it a try? I like the fact that I can clear my history and address bar easily too.

Another one I like is Off by One browser. Leave no tracks with that one, although it seems a little slow on my machine. It also doesn't need help from IE in order to operate. I got both from  www.webattack.com  I think.

Thanks Guys,

Spittinnetzero!!

I use K-meleon .6  http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net  which based on Mozilla but much smaller, and am quite pleased with it. It is faster than any other browser that I've used, and doesn't have all the security holes found in IE. They are coming out with a new release, based on Mozilla 1.1, in the near future.

I got sick of the IE crashes & downloaded K-Meleon yesterday. So far I like it a lot. The file is only 3.89 KB and it imports your favorites/bookmarks.
