PC Tools AntiVirus
I was testing PC Tools AntiVirus Free
It is Free and I ask for my money back!
I was looking for a test site to test PC tools AntiVirus.
The site I found had what I thought was just a test Virus it turned out to be a real Trojan.
Being not well protected by PC Fools AntiVirus the EXE. was downloaded and run at which very nasty things started happening to my Computer. I tried running scans but my mostly Black Computer looked like it was going to make a great boat anchor.
Times like this a good pray comes in handy.
Please Lord may the System Restore still be operational.
And so it was.
The Colors came back to my PC and all was good.
At this point I Quietly Un-installed PC Fools AntiVirus.
As thing were I thought it would be a good idea to get a good AntiVirus Program.
The site gave some indication that the Trojan had been stopped best by
Kaspersky, ESET Nod32, AntiVir in that order.
Kaspersky, ESET Nod32 are to expensive.
So I downloaded AntiVir Premium(27$) works good It stop that Trojan EXE. before it could even start downloading. The Updates are fast and I am on dialup.
It does have False Positives.

Wow, Lost, what an experience. But at least you were able to recover. It is a little late now but were you aware that Anti-vir has a free version? I have been using it for 4 or 5 months now and I am satisfied with it. I have seen that the pay version has anti-spyware protection too. Have you investigated that aspect of the package yet?
I also tested Avast free several months back too, and I can vouch for them too. They are actually supposed to have anti-spyware protection built into their free version.
Another free package is AVG 8. I have not tested this one and quite a few Freedomlisters abandoned AVG when the version 8 was released for various reasons.
At any rate I just wanted to point out that there are several more free versions of anti-virus programs available.

There is not separate part for spyware. Not sure what they added.
AntiVir Premium's WebGuard blocked these tests

I use Avast. "Set it and forget it" which is what a good AntiVirus is all about!! I have used McAfee and AVG (7.5).
As long as Avast is free and available, I will use it because it is solid. |

| Lost, don't go by site ratings or computer magazine ratings. Go to forums and ask "real" users! They will tell you exactly what works and doesn't work with each product and all the things to look out for. |
