When I first got Verizon it was easy to forward ports, but now when you I go to 192.168.1.1 it takes me to Verizon site and not westell like it use to, then theres a pop up asking for username and password, admin and password no longer work nor does my verizon.net username and password, and when you call up they want you to pay for tech help??? WTF???

The setup page for a Westell modem is 192.168.1.1
when you type the address into your browser, a popup lets you login to look at and change settings.
For the 2200 I was working on, the default was admin for user and admin for the password. Of course I changed that.
r01axb, if you can't get into your Westell reset it
Quote:
reset Westell modem to the factory defaults by pressing its reset button and holding it for a long time
I'm not sure what constitutes a long time. I read 20-30 seonds. If you got a manual or a CD which probably has the manual on it, look and see how long you have to press the reset button to reset it.

Well I had the $14.99/month for life rate for a few years now, last year it went up to 19.99 so I called and they were giving me a credit on my bill for $5, this month it went up so I called, they said this plan wasn't valid anymore. I said it stated for life but he said that didn't mean anything, verizon says in the fine print they can cancel it anytime. the sad thing is I still don't know of dsl for less than $20 a month so I guess I'll stay, but I really feel screwed right now (and not in a good way). I see this topic is a few years old, but is anyone still getting the $14.99 a month for life rate, which they cancelled for me?[/code]

Oh, BTW, the $14.99 for life plan really expires after the two year period. In the fine print it states Verizon can rise rates "if they eliminate the plan". Pretty sneaky when Verizon determines "lifetime".

I normally don't pay attention to this kind of stuff, but it just happened to me now. I have the same deal. I will double check my next bill to see if they will screw me too. Where do you live? I'm in the NYC area.

I'm in PA (Johnstown, 50 miles from Pittsburgh). They've actually been giving me the run around for almost a year, raising the price back then, but giving me a discount on the bill when I called and complained to them. Now they just stopped giving me any discount.
