| Has anyone used Chatter Bug - a VOIP service at $9.95 / mo. for unlimited calls in US & Canada that does NOT use any internet connection (NO dial-up or Broadband - DSL/Cable) whatsoever!!! If so, what is your feedback?? |

It looks interesting. But it depends on how much calling you will actually be doing. It wouldn't be worth it for me. $9.95 will get me 8.76 hours to the US and Canada using Tel3. If someone makes long distance calls that exceed 8.76 hours per month, I guess Chatter Bug might be worth considering.
The Chatter Bug device costs $24.95. It also doesn't work with fax machines. I wonder if you are limited to using the phone that it is connected to to make long distance calls, or if extension phones can be used to make long distance calls? _________________

| You use cordless phones with ChatterBug connected to the Base station like other VOIP setups like Vonage. |

I hadn't heard of it before reading this thread. I'm assuming you're referring to this:
http://www.chatterbug.com/
I wouldn't be interested, I don't use long distance enough to warrant a flat $9.95/mo.
They have a FAQ page that talks about, among other things, what works with it, and what doesn't: | http://www.chatterbug.com/faqs.do wrote: | ...
Q: Can I use multiple phones with Chatter Bug?
A: Some of our customers use cordless phone systems that come with a base unit and extra handsets. The base station of the cordless telephone plugs directly into the Chatter Bug. Multiple handsets can be placed anywhere in the house.
...
Q: What are the limitations on where Chatter Bug can be used?
A: Only for direct dial phones. Cannot be used on telephone systems where you must first dial a number to get an outside line.
...
Q: What if I have multiple lines in my home?
A: Chatter Bug only works on the line (and linked extra cordless handsets) on which it is installed. If you want to cover more than one home line, you must purchase an additional Chatter Bug and pay for an additional monthly service charge. Your normal long distance telephone charges will apply to calls from those phones not connected to the Chatter Bug.
...
Q: Will Chatter Bug work on a DSL, Cable or Internet connection?
A: Not as of this date.
Q: Can I use Chatter Bug with my cable phone service?
A: Not as of this date.
...
Q: How does Chatter Bug™ handle a situation in which a state has several area codes?
A: The Chatter Bug™ will be able to determine when it needs to work. When you register your Chatter Bug™, you will register a phone number to it. When you call a number with an area code outside of your registered number, the Chatter Bug™ will pick it up.
Q: Does the $9.95 a month include all the federal and state taxes, charges, and fees?
A: The $9.95/month fee we charge includes all charges. You do not pay any additional charge.

It might make sense for a household with one person or only one phone jack that consistently makes a lot of long distance calls every month to make the $9.95 per month worthwhile. _________________
