I have some of these files from a paid music download source, Sonicstage, that are in ATRAC3 or OpenMG Audio format (.oma). The service doesn't give me a real option to convert to an mp3 an oma file, so I'm wondering if there is a program out there that converts from .oma to .mp3?

dBpowerAMP Music Converter did not work. It does not recognise OMA files.

I use himdrenderer, and it works almost perfectly. I don't know where to get it, but google the name and you will probably be able to find it.

These programs may help if you can play the .oma on your computer, then the free program Audio Grabber can record them to mp3. It can record any sound that goes through your sound card to mp3 or wav.

But you must download and install the LAME encoder to be able to record to mp3, but that's easy enough to do. I just copied it out of my Audacity folder, which is another good free audio recorder (multi-track) that can record any sound going through your computer. But again you have to download the LAME mp3 encoder separately for Audacity too.

I like Audio Grabber better because it records directly to mp3, with no conversion time like Audacity, but Audacity still has its uses too.

Here's where you can get both programs. If you look around on either site they'll tell you where to get the LAME mp3 encoder.

Audio Grabber:  http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/

Audacity:  http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

HIMDRenderer can convert OMA files that are playable on your PC. It will also convert the whole file to MP3, WAV, OGG or FLAC and converts faster than real-time.
site removed It was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I think some people are just throw out things off the top of their head on this thread. I downloaded this blaze software and it does not recognise this type of file.

It would be helpful if people would say why they think an application would work i.e. they have used it for this purpose; or it is just generally a good software for this type of thing.

BlazeMP does have a way to convert from .oma
There is a utility included in it that will record anything that goes through your PC's sound card and can convert that to mp3 right away. Takes a while though - must be done in realtime.

HIMDRenderer works, but I've found it to be quite unreliable. It will make it through maybe 10 tracks at a time before crashing. Not fun if you're trying to convert 3000 tracks.
