I would like to requote of item I saw earlier, as follows:
QUOTE
Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo
users around the net and see what you're doing and where you
are going - similar to cookies. Take a look at their updated privacy
statement:
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/pixels/details.html
About half-way down the page, in the section "Outside the Yahoo!
Network", you'll see a little "click here" link that will let
you "opt-out" of their new method of snooping. I strongly recommend
that you do this.
Once you have clicked that link, you are opted out. Notice
the "Success" message the top the next page.
Be careful because on that page there is a "Cancel Opt-out" button
that, if clicked, will *undo* the opt-out. Feel free to forward this
to other groups.

The question is why does Yahoo do this? Granted, I don't and never would track a user, but there are valid reasons why they could do this. If they are trying to make your internet experience a better place, then yes, by all means track me. However, if they are doing it for other reasons, then definatly opt out.
One last thing, what are you doing on the web that you dont want people to see...LOL.... |

thank you for the information. this is 2 strike for yahoo.
Question do you have to opt-out every time you delete cookies ?
Note: This opt-out applies to a specific browser rather than a specific user. Therefore you will have to opt-out separately from each computer or browser that you use.
other place to opt-out
Non-PII (Anonymous Information) Opt-Out
http://tinyurl.com/pd26
**AD-SERVING COOKIE OPT-OUT**
http://tinyurl.com/2cyjw
ValueClick
http://tinyurl.com/3aylv
try to post it in a yahoo Message Board. yahoo would not let me do it. |

| Actually I don't do anything in my home I dont want people to see. However, I was just joking, hence the 'LOL'. Being a network security analyst for a number of years, i can say not all tracking is bad. Like I said previously, it all depends on what they are using it for and who has the authority to see it. Most of the time, you are just a number and no personal information is recorded, only movements. No personal information, ip addresses, or names are associated. However, you should definatly opt-out of this feature since there is no way of verifying exactly how and why yahoo is using the information. I would not trust yahoo unless they gave a valid reason. Even then, I probably wouldnt trust them. The only reason I am saying this is because too many people are improperly educated and don't fully understand how cookies, session id's, and the like truely work. |
