this 26.4 seems to be the standard, but without alll the ad crap.

Same here. I often have to try several times before I get a connection that lasts more than 2 minutes: the first several just get dropped without explanation other than "modem hangup"... and then tada! a 44k connection that lasts until I hang up, sometimes for a 10h overnight download. When I first signed up, there were no problems at all. I've used the same nice hardware modem with the latest firmware all along, and this phone line has no extra services such as call waiting. So at this time I would describe 295.ca as unusable. Also, there have been periods of weeks when it was not possible to access my 20megs of webspace at all. There have been 2 periods when all my outgoing mail (except my CCs to my mailbox @295.ca) was silently lost, no error msgs.

I'm far from the phone central office, and can barely connect at 21600. My old ISP (which I still have) is fine at this speed, and I use it when I can't connect to 295. Between 7 pm and 11:00, 295 gives occasionaly busy signals, dropped connections, and no throughput. There's also a long delay before web pages load. Most of the time it's ok, but I'd be happy to pay $3.95 a month if they gave better service. That gives me an idea...

We've had 295 for about 5 months now. Usually the connection is okay..had sympatico before and had the same problems as we do now with 295 ie. connection terminated, cannot locate server etc. Today the connection was terminated 5 times in the first 7 minutes...very frustrating...and I can't seem to get on the 295.ca webstite....it just freezes. I guess you get what you pay for. ES

You want a terrible ISP...look no further than 3web...the fun part is when you decide you've had enough and want to let them know you are discontinuing their service (?). A moment of silence for all those 3web have driven to be restrained in straight jackets while awaiting 'the operation'.

The BANK knew though...after four days I decided to just tell my VISA people not to accept any futher billings from 3web. Funny thing...the BANK had their number (I am NOT making this up!) and set up a 3 way telephone call that resulted in everybody understanding clearly that I no longer wanted to be associated with 3 web. Think about it. The BANK had the number, right there...like they knew I was going to call. My thinking is they had a call or two before me.

I'm in Hamilton and dialing into the Hamilton number and getting 50.6 connection speeds 95 % of the time. Otherwise 49.2! Not too bad for 3 bucks a month! If you want to see improvements in your connection speed use tweaks found on the internet, as well get an external modem. I am using a USR Sportster 56k v90 modem that I bought off of Ebay and it works great. When I connected with the winmodem the speeds were much slower than with the USR modem. Try adding an init string to your modem as well to tweak it, internet has tons of sites with init strings and instructions on how to install these strings to improve performance. Otherwise, for 3 Bucks, I am going to be a customer for a long time. Keep up the good work 295.ca!

i log in at 52 000 and get decent downloads. An improvement over my other dialup sessions.

Hi:

I am happy with 2.95.ca I now have had this provider for 2months, at first it was always disconnecting but I called the help desk and they solved the problem.

My computer was to fast so they lowered it...

I had aol for free 6 months, yes it nice but to expensive

I am really happy about 295.ca

Yeh I'm in Ottawa.. And yes it has been down a few days now...

I am 19 and i spend most of my life in my room on the internet provided by 295.ca...

I rarely do much else. I chat and download and caht and download.. My father was int eh hospital for 8 weeks and i ddint even know about it since i never go down stairs and hes always gone to work when i get up at 4pm..

anyways i just want to say 295.ca is great for the price. $3!! for internet? WOW.... .look man i can excuse a couple of days down for 295.. They are still new and doing a wonderful job. i understand soem ppls frustration... as when my internet wouldnt work the first day i went into a temporary coma.... when i came too i went downstairs...(i didnt know we had a puppy) anyways.. i went outside.... and went to a cafe and had a coffee... i met this realyl ugly girl there but she was nice... and now i have a real friend....so i just want to say..."thank you 295.ca" I mean it....

how do you guys offer internt at $3.... wow........ im only paying $3.. i feel like i deserve to have a few days down every now and then.... i hear that ottawa is solid now...good stuff!! I'm gonna go outside again.... see yah!

I am 6 miles outside Ilderton so my connect speed is limited to 26.4 kb/s but sympatico and AOL can both work fine on this line. However, 295 is not able to establish a connection more than 2 times in 48 attempts.
For my purposes this is a complete dud.

Last month I hooked up with 2.95 dial up so far no problems. I only wish the dial up services were made just a little faster i.e. all internet providers.

Go to their web site www.295.ca and check under "Acces information" all the cities covered are there :-)

Hi: I have aol for 6 months, its nice the mail is customized no pop ups but its 18.95 plus tax.. I am trying out 3 web this month but I get all kinds of popups..so I went to googles and downloaded for free stop pop ups. Its seem to work. I will try 295.ca next month and see. The price is good for the number of hours I use it..

I wished they would customize their e-mail better to look like aol.
