Title: Walmart isp disconnect rip off.
|
|
donmy9 Guest
I too have been a victim of trying to have service discontinued after calling them up. I guess India gets paid for each customer they keep on. I belive we should see if this is pervasive and if it is lets try for a class action law suite and see if we can get their attenion

Slow ???? I've been testing Wal-mart connect and there are some things that I do not like, but slow is not one of them. This is as fast or faster than the highstream.net with the web accelerator that I am also testing and it's pretty fast.
Things I do not like however:
(1) AOL like
(2) Accelerator seems to only work on Aol interface, not internet explorer.
(3) Install installs a lot of stuff
(4) Internet connection sharing does not work (any hope on this)
(5) Wish I had done a boot-up speed test before install to be sure, but Windows XP is startup is definitely slower - whether Wal-mart connect is to blame - I'm not sure. (any other's have comments on this?)

Dude, Walmartconnect has not been around for 32 yearquote]
NO IT IS ACTUALLY AN OLDER VERSION OF AOL! COME ON PEOPLE, I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE TO FIGURE THIS ONE OUT. IT IS SLOW, I DON'T HAVE THE DISCONNECT PROBLEM, BUT IT CAN BE REAL PAIN(ESPECIALLY HAVING JUST BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER).

I'm testing out Wal-mart Connect for the purpose of seeing if it is appropriate to recommend to clients.
Here is a helpful discussion which so far matches my experience:
http://familyinternet.about.com/cs/freeisps/a/aawalmartconnec.htm
Did I miss it - has anyone mentioned that wm does not seem to work on home office lans with internet connection sharing? Not sure why.
Interesting that, at least for my first test, outlook express worked fine for domain emails and accessing emails for other providers while using the wm connection, but can't seem to figure out how to use for wal-mart connect email (maybe we can't). AOL did the ability for allow outlook express to access aol email this spring:
http://help.channels.aol.com/article.adp?c...eId=217449
Also, anything to the slowing the PC down even after uninstall ? <sigh> Surely something can be whacked to remove this if true.
I want to run a few more speed tests, but I think I'll stay with the more traditional / non-proprietary approaches.
Dave

Basically, the Walmart ISp is just a stripped down AOL, which is I had known, I would have never put it on my computer, as I am no fan of AOL.
The Phone # to cancel this ISP is 1-888-855-0942
the number is listed in the cardboard folder the cd comes in, and nowhere else, with the exception of this site.
For the most part I have always been connected, it is the software it self that I have an issue with, it takes over various aspects of things saved and changes the icons, and if you switch ISP's, you have to have web addresses, because if you bookmark or open using walmart, just like AOL, it will not be accessible, so before I get rid of it, I have to go in to my bookmarks and my favorites and manually write the important addresses down...Be sure if you are getting rid of this service to do a complete un-install, and also to do a check all folders/files---there will be a lot of fragmented stuff, just like AOL--they attach a lot of adware/spyware and garbage onto your computer---so if you know how to, back yourself up---I had serious corruption of files after getting rid of AOL, and I am hoping it is going to be as bad when I dump walmart. If the weren't using AOL software, I'd probably keep them, but it causes too many problems with dial up, and slows me down---Also---most links do not work properly when you try them the 1st or 2nd time---so I do not use this as my browser----ever...
I just want an ISP without anything else---is this possible??? Just an access ##---bare bones ISP??? none of their pages and ads and garbage??? Any suggestions???~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Celena

I started with walmart connect service about 2 years ago, maybe a little longer. I had tried a couple of others and found their service to be very expensive for what seemed nothing more than I finally got when I signed
with Walmart. I have had no problem with them no incorrect billing no interuptions. Anyplace I wanted to go Walmart took me no problemo.
Thanx Walmart, keep up the good work and with good prices.

I had wmconnect for 6 months. Slow and sloppy Isp/tech support. Hiring an American that speaks English would greatly help the tech support system. 1 week ago, I tried to connect, and received a message saying my account was invalid. So, the following day, Saturday, June 5, 2004, I was finally able to contact customer service. They told me my $9.94 didn't go through for May, '04. After checking my bank staements, payment was cleared on May, 3, 04. But no payment was processed for June. Nor did my bank say that any payment had been received from wmconnect, nor was any payment refused. Seems to me that if there had been a problem with my account, they could have sent me an e-mail or called me at home..they do have everyone's home number, instead of just cancelling my account. They stated before I could ever use wmconnect again, I would owe 2 payments of $9.94. Guess what wmconnect, you can kiss it. I found an isp $1.00 cheaper than your crap, and their customer service people speak ENGLISH!!..lolololol

Title: walmart connect
|
|
rharley114 Guest
I have had wmconnect for about three weeks to four weeks now. This has been a nightmare with wmconnect. After reading these stories coming from others like me really confirms my problems. Problems started with reading the TOS. I was disconnected a minimum of 4--I repeat 4 X's. Initially I just thought it was just a fluke. On the contrary, this was just the beginning. In the time that i have had wmconnect, i have had a minimum of 4 to 5 per day. This is the most ridiculous feature of this ISP.. The number of X's that the "internet page" could not be found along with being "kicked' offline wasa minimum of 10 -20 X's PER DAY. This is absurd for a Walmart based ISP to promote.
So far I have had Earthlink, AOL and PeoplePC. The only one I came close to liking was PeoplePC. But I just did not care for some of its system parameters.
Yahoo Email, so far, is "the Best" customer satisfying email that I have come across so I will stay there. i am still searching for an ISP-Plan on checking Great Barrier Reef ( 3-- friend recommendations) , SBC Yahoo, Poetworld, ZCloud, bellsouth.net and Juno.
Before they start charging me I plan on dropping wmconnect NOW to hopefully prevent problems. Oh one more thing. When i called them about my problem they said oh we can fix that and proceded to change my access number. I went back online and the first thing it did was to disconnect several X'S. Walmart/AOL needs to get English speaking understandable Tech Persons. I had to have her repeat at least 4 or 5 X's. reminds me too much of DELL Corp.

information about Wal-Mart connect high-speed access offers. We are not yet offering satellite, DSL, ISND or wireless modem services as part of actual Wal-Mart connect service many areas of the country, however, have high speed connection Services. Look in your phone book yellow pages under satellite DSL,ISDN, wireless modem, modem services or Internet services to obtain the best locaL information about service availability once you have the service provider, you will always be more than welcome to use the connection as a way to connect to the Wal-Mart connects servers through art TCP/IP connection. I've been doing a little testing on my problem i'm having with using wmconnect with outlook express. Like I said it has been working fine for the last 10-12 months untill the last few days. I has been sending every time for the past two days so i'm getting closer to the fix, it will not send if I click send but after several min's if I just ignor it and go about my buisiness it will sometimes send all by itself. Now I find if I have the message in the out box it will send every time if I reboot I know it dosen't make any sense I don't know what I've don to mess it up but I'm sure I'll get it fixed. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

Title: Outlook express

ahall Guest
I have used Wmconnect for 10 or 12 months now and have had no problems at all. I have three computers on wmconnect and all three are different accounts $9.94 each. I have never had any problems with it and have said many times (its the best ISP I have ever used) Now! about Outlook Express! I spent several days researching on how to use outlook express with wmconnect and have been using it for the past 10 to 12 months. But about four day's ago it started to cat up and will not send or receive all of the time. Some times it will and some times it won't most of the time it won't. But I've never had a problem untill this past week.
The problem is I don't remember how I configured it to work. The only thing I can remember is that on one of their Info pages it said in bold (do not do it) But I did do it and it worked fine untill now. I don't know if they put a stop to it or something is wrong with my machine. At any rate If i can figure it out I will let everyone know about it.
