Title: I love peoplepc!
|

moose3737 Guest
this isp is only $11 a month, you can use DUN or their software, their is no maximum single session time, there are no banners, there are a bunch of acces numbers, and there are good connections! They rule!

Title: Lousy first impression
|
|
Fox Guest
I had used peoplepc years ago, and had no problem. Now, when I signed up again, they inserted an intrusive bar into my MSIE (ouch!). There was no FAQ or tech info on the site about how to remove it. I had signed up for a $9.95/mo. plan, so they told me I would need to call a 900 number for tech support.
I also needed to log in to my computer as Administrator to connect to the 'Net. My kids log in differently, which restricts their access to certain areas, and the peoplepc software crashed when they tried to connect. I gave up peoplepc even before my free trial expired LOL. I'll stick with DUN from now on.

Title: Didn't cancel account
|
|
tawney Guest
I had a years's account an it was O.K. But I canceled my account after the year and guess what they did: they charged $15.95 for a month to my account.
The cancellation was done according to their policy and I even called three times to confirm it. But they say that they have no record. I guess I am out of $15.95.
I would never subscribe to their ISP again.

Title: Price Increase
|
|
Harry Guest
Just checked PeoplePC web site and the price has gone
up. Now $15.95 a month or $155.40 annual ($12.95 per
mo). Too bad for such a highly rated service. I have
to take them off my Maybe list.

Title: Questions
|
|
mdh69 Guest
This si not a review, but questions directed toward
current users!
I have 4 questions:
1. Is this Truly Unlimited service (not 150-200 hour
cap?)
2. Can you SEND other email through this account? For
example, can you use that hotmail account via Outlook?
3. Where can one find the DUN settings?
4. Do you get automatically \"bumped\" at a regular
interval? Some ISP''s bump you no matter what every X
# of hours - does this one?
This info would be greatly appreciated!

Title: Yes PeoplePC! No AOL!
|
|
Kevin Guest
I''ve had PeoplePC for about a year now and I couldn''t
be happier. Their tech people walked me through a DUN
connection and it works great. Love not having to
download their software. Very high bps (typically
54.667) with very reliable connections. I left AOL for
good after their last price jump. Not to mention all the
junk they want to put in your computer. I pay $9.95 a
month for unlimited access with PPC and hope they
never go out of business!

Title: New Dialer a NO GO FOR ME...
|
|
£xñi}{ilø Guest
People pc has taken a huge dive for me in ISP service.
I too with them for probably a year now and holding at
their 9.95 price rather than the raised one at 14.95.
Unfortunately that new dialer rather than a simple
using standard MS dial up is horrible. Now I log on
typically at 33,600 bps and have to disconnect often to
get to a ''decent'' 42 or 44K bps. People pc claimed they
went to use this new dial up downloaded program to stop
all the disconnects that had increased in the last few
months tremendously, but now it STILL disconnects, logs
on at lower speeds, throws up an advertising banner,
and worst of all, IE browser doesn''t work quite right
now with because of something to do with people pc. I
have to use Netscape. The IE browser just won''t
''finish'' downloading a site for a long time and it sits
there for minutes on end waiting to finish up the down
load. I downloaded IE 5 (don''t like 6) again and
reinstalled to no avail meaning it''s people pc, NOT my
system
That''s another major problem with the jerk off techs at
people pc. Like many ISPs they always try and ''blame''
the net consumer rather than take responsibilty for
their own system faults. In response to my complaint of
lower access speeds, they sent a bunch of lame
instructions on how to ''maximize'' my system with
comprised of nothing more than ''cleaning'' out temp
files and such. Useless and things I do anyways knowing
nothing would increase the speed that lowered AFTER the
new dialer download! I said as much saying it''s not
rocket science to figure out that if it was faster
BEFORE the new dialer, than obviously the problem has
to do with THEIR SYSTEM, not mine. Lame brains I''ll
tell ya!
So, as usual, off to look for a new low cost ISP with a
standard dial up - simple access to internet w/email
and news groups. Is that so hard to ask for? It seems
an one ISP I go with is great for awhile, like
peoplepc was and then takes a flying dump within a
year or so.. And so it goes and goes and goes, now on
what, my 10 ISP in the same number of years? Luckily
smart enough to AVOID THE REAL LOSER, AOL;-)
Regards to all Decent ISP hunters...

Title: Confused
|
|
Jim Guest
You said \"I will have to switch to a service that offers
dial up numbers that use the dialers supplied with
windows\". I don''t understand. Are you saying you can
not DUN PeoplePC? I have been using People PC for
about a year now. I have never used their software
and don''t now. I just DUN and I am still getting on just
fine.

Title: People PC Trouble?
|
|
Johm Guest
Yes, I agree. I have been with them over a year
myself. Very good and affordable ISP until they came
up with their dialer. It slows down my computer and
there is no way to use internet without it. If I can
not
go back using it without their dialer, I cancel and
find
another ISP.

Title: dialer?
|
|
phil Guest
I have been with PeoplePc for about a year. I recently
could not get on the net unless I downloaded a their
dialer. The dialer seems to be causing problems with
Explorer, it often shuts down then works ok after
shutting down several times.
I will have to switch to a service that offers dial up
numbers that use the dialers supplied with windows. I
was very happy with PeoplePC overall, but the dialer is
intolerable.

Title: Excellent ISP
|
|
Jim Guest
I have been using PeoplePC for about a year now. I''m
paying $9.95 per month. I never have a busy signal. I
always get good connections. Rarely get a drop
connection. They have a bunch of local phone numbers
in my area (NC). DUN is easy. I did have to call tech
support once early on, but they were easy to work with
and very knowledgeable. For the price, I could not ask
for any better service.

Hi,
I have Win2K. The tech support person told me to use a DUN and instructed me through the process. If you have Win2K, their software won''t work very well.
I emailed them with a problem and they responded in about 2 days. I would appreciate faster response time.
