Title: kicked off
|
|
Stephanie Guest
When I first used it...it worked
good[4-6 weeks ago]I used it for
less than a week....then I would
connect and get kicked off a few
minutes later. I would try a few
days later and the problem still
existed. However...to be fair, I
know other users who have no
problems

Title: SMTP
|
|
SMTP Port 25 Guest
What happened?? MetConnect use to allow you to use Port 25 (SMTP). So you could send email using outlook. It seems they dont allow that anymore. Because I can't connect to any SMTP Mailers.
Netzero doesn't allow that nor does NoCharge. All this happened a couple of weeks ago..
WHY WHY WHY?????

Title: Once connected it's great but ...
|
|
Kismet Guest
it's the getting connected part that the problem. There's only one dial up number and trying to get online can be a frustrating process. However, once I'm connected I stay connected. It's really fast and there are no annoying banners. For NYers it's a great service ... once you get connected that is.

Title: Incredible
|
|
Sleek Newness (SN) Guest
MetConnect is so good, I was looking for a string attached to it. And there is, kinda. On the privacy policy they do log the sites you visit, but all free isps do that to a point.
In execution however, MC is one of the best.

Reformat your hard drive. YOu may need to reinstall your operating system too. Check the dial setting for your internet connection. Make sure you have entered the ip address of Metconnect.com accurately.

Title: The absolute best!
|
|
hipechik Guest
A month ago when Freei went belly up, I was in a tizzy. What to do?! But luckily, I discovered MetConnect. I've used it for a few weeks now, and I have had zero problems. I almost always connect on the first try, and I've only been kicked off a few times during the entire time. Yes, you only get one access number and a busy signal from time to time, but the service still kicks butt! (I almost feel guilty using it for free!)

Title: May be you got wrong one(?)
|
|
Bhanu Guest
I am using metconnect and I can confidently say that this is the best ISP I ever use. I get 36 to 53 speed and always connected except busy hours. Don't you feel same thing with paid ISP. I felt distracting adds and connection problem while using aol. I am afraid that what happens to me if it dies?
If somebody knows another ISP like this please let me know. I need backup one.

Title: BEST ISP
|
|
Steve Guest
This is my favorite ISP i have ever
had.-- THis from a guy who goes
through hundreds of isps in a year.
You connect through dial-up
networking which makes going online
MUCH easier. If anybody knows of
another isp like this, please
comment on this review. I ask for
this because i want to have a
backup isp incase the asses at juno
buy this one.

Title: 115,200 bps is COM port speed.
|
|
John Doe Guest
You are not connecting to the metconnect server at 115200 bps. That is actually the speed your motherboard is connecting to your modem: the COM port's maximum throughput is 115200 bps. Technically, you can achieve close to 56000 bps optimally, but FCC regulations make connections above 53333 bps illegal. (To the ISP, not you). This is done because to truly achieve 56k, you must pump so much energy through the line that you can generate crosstalk.

Like it - a tad slower connect rate but the *** works with no banners. On this machine usually get on at about 40K.
And don't forget the price.
