Have you tried checking with Equifax to see if they have in fact done anything. If they haven't they you can pretty well tell them to go to hell. I mean I got my entire sign up costs and first month and everything related to my experience with them back. This totaled $177. They haven't bothered me since I did this and this was back last year around June I think it was. So try and see what happens. You have nothing to lose. I remember at one point I said to 3WEB, "Who compensates me for waiting on the line for hours on end." That pretty much shut them up. Good luck.

What I did was I called my credit card company and did what's called a charge back. You tell the credit card what the problem was and get your money back. It's been since last Sept. since I cancelled and I haven't heard a thing. From what I understand they cannot touch your credit rating as a result of this.

Title: Wrost exprience ,looking to take a legal action against 3web
|
I have been ugsing 3web internet service for 2 years. Then i decided to get local phone. And i started to get problems.
i pay $23 shipping for voice terminal and battery. after a month, my services is started but i was not able to recieve any phone calls. When i called , operator says that this number does not has sevice. I called many times and wait hours to talk representatives. They were extremly rude and not helpful. I could not solve my problems but i was still paying the local phone services fees. then i decided to cancel. The problem was arising from their system or something else but not from me. so i did not have any fault and i asked to send voice terminal and battery back and pay shipping.
Another think when i get this services , they give 100 dollar long distance credit. As i saw their web site ,china was 0.04 cent and turkey was 0.09 cent. But i charged 0.20 for china and 0.46 for turkey. And asked to pay extra $173 long distance fee (273-100=173)
I did not get any services because of their fault but i have to pay extra 250 ( shpping cost , unlawful long distance fees and local phone service)
When i tried to explain them they just do not care. they told me to pay it otherwise they report credit agency. I can not reach them , i can not get any answer. what should i do...
i am not going to pay anything so i change my credit card number from bank. i am looking some costumer organization to show me a way. but i can not find any organization.
please help , this company drives me a crazy....

Title: 3web - canada cheap isp
|
I have 3Web for several months. It's much cheaper than its competidors. I was happy until recently.
The internet went down for 3 days, due to technical problems, that was more than a month ago. After that, the internet speed was really poor, hardly getting anything better than 0% download. Last Friday, it went down again. The first time it happened, I tried to contact the technical support and waited on the line for 2.5 hours! This time I wasn't even able to contact them after more than 20 attempts. The recording says "Sorry, we cannot connect you at this time" then it hangs up.

Title: 3Web Review, My Experiences
|
My experience with 3Web's Internet Service is one of the worst experiences I've had yet dealing with a telco, which says a lot given I'm a former customer of Rogers and Sympatico.
My most recent pain has been frequent disruptions in my service, with no explanations to be forthcoming. I can't even describe how painful that is for someone that telecommutes a lot and runs a server on the connection. Now I have to go find a hosting provider, and another ISP.
The absolute worst part of dealing with this company is their terrible customer service. I can rarely get through to support; they don't answer their emails consistently or timely, and when calling I always get "We cannot connect you at this time. All our other representatives are presently helping customers." Once, when I did get through, I was told I was caller #19 and had a 30 minute wait. I was on hold for two hours as the "estimated wait time" fluctuated between 30 seconds and two minutes. (Did these people write their own software, misconfigure it, or what? My 5 year-old boy is better at math than that!) I eventually became caller #9, however I realized after some time that this was only because others on the queue were likely dropping off. I don't think they were even picking up the calls in the queue anymore. Unbelievable!
This past summer my connection was disabled because of a billing problem. What should have taken a few days took THREE WEEKS to resolve; the entire process was insanely frustrating and nerve-wracking. Virtually every single call that I had with their support team ended up without results as they made mistakes, failed to admit to them, and consistently failed to follow through. (They always said they would stay on the problem and follow up with me; only once did they actually call me back as promised.) Ultimately, the people they have in their support organization just don't care, and it's obvious. I will point out that throughout I remained polite and cooperative and gave them no reason to jerk me around.
I was consistently assured I wouldn't be billed for the down time, or that I would be credited. Of course, that still has yet to happen. My first two emails to myaccount (at) 3web.com were never responded to. How useful is that? My third illicited a response nearly a week after I sent it. I'm still waiting to hear back from my response to their query for more information.
3Web's service, until recently, was reasonably reliable, however now I'm losing connection for up to 24 hours at a time a few times a week; moreover, they really don't have a clue what they're doing in customer service. I can't even imagine what kind of idiots are running this company to allow for such an ineffective and incompetent support organization. 3Web's customers must be dropping like flies right now.
Unfortunately, your options in many parts of Canada (Sympatico, Rogers, etc.) aren't a whole lot better. I sure miss iStop, and wish that there were more competent and business-hungry ISP's out there making proper investments in their networking infrastructure and support processes.

I was a user of their high speed internet which was no problem. It was only when I tried their VOIP phone service that I ran into troubles that I can't even begin to write down. After three months of talking with "TECH SUPPORT" I just gave up. They finally informed me that their Voice Modem can't handle when I use Bit Comet. If they had told me this from the beginning I would have said thanks but no thanks. And your right about their tech suport. I had the feeling they were reading from a script and if you had a problem that was not on this script forget about getting help.

3web used to be pretty good. Recently, I've found email anomalies. Like sending email and the receiver getting it 6 months later. Sending email to addresses and 3web sending it back to me saying those addesses don't exist. I send it through another email address and it works fine.
Also, I use netscape mail (netscape communicator) and the SMTP server no longer works forcing me to use their web-based email to send email...or reply to email.
Technical support is non-existant unless you pay them.

I have used 3WEB for two years and it was excellent for the price of $25 for 3Mb. Better that Rogers $50 I was paying before that. Now I have moved out of Canada and I am still using the Modem I bouht from them. Actually people are envious of my DSL modem. They only have that stupid USB only Zoom modem.
I knew somebody who was complaining a lot and even switched from 3WEB to Bell. Service from Bell was bad, he later found out that the problem was the modem not the ISP. The long is distance was the cheapest I could get (unless you compare to the scratch cards).
However if you money to blow away, be my guess.

Title: Time to move on from 3web
|
|

I've been a 3web subcriber for a couple of years now and up until about 3 weeks ago, probably thought quite highly of the service. Then in November, I started getting replies to emails I sent back in May as recipients just received them. So I wondered where my email went for 6 months. About 3 weeks ago, I could no longer send email from my email client as I kept getting an error message. I had to use 3web's webmail system. A call to their support line and I was told they don't support Netscape Mail, or Eudora mail. I had to use Outlook Express. Well, their SMTP server is down so Outlook doesn't work either.
I also recently purchased a MAC as some of my work involves MAC. 3web does not support MAC.
I feel for the support guy who chimed in here earlier as I think 3web probably limits your resources for you to provide top notch support services.
I am looking for another ISP.

Anyone use the V.92 Modem hold option with call waiting? Does it work at 3Web? What V.92 modem type do you have. What V.92 modem type does 3Web use at their end?

I used 3web for awhile and found it ok actually for my purpose.
Although how I'd use it was a little different than normal I guess.
I had a specific firewall block everything except what was needed to first dial up... then when the 3web Application would try to start up I would crash it (task manager) to not let 3web track my connection habits.
I would keep the dial up connection without any background app running.
I used an application based firewall called Atguard (bought out by Symantec; Norton personal firewall with gimics); said to be obsolete but actually still works fine. At least it was good enough for symantec to trash it's firewall and build their new firewall on top off atguard's engine.

I tell you. Their DSL services in Quebec, Canada really ***. It's unstable, and the customer service is almost ABSENT. In fact, I think they must recruit their agents in high school. They know nothing, they just want ONE thing : hang up on you! They'll say anything to make you hang up. They get impatient like crazy if you try to complain or if you ask to talk to their supervisor.
Bad service, bad experience
HOWEVER
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP...................... don't know how long I'm going to go for the cheap option vs a better alternative though.........
