Title: Not worth it.

Installation requires you install a whole bunch of other useless software, you have to sign up for other services too which is an automatic application to receiving junk mail.
Defintely not worth it.

Title: don''t use address.com

The only way I have been able to clear address.com out of my system is through the registry. I still have problems accessing a couple of sites but for the most part I think I rid myself of the biggest part of the problem.

Title: ADDRESS.COM SHOULD BE BANNED FOR LIFE!
|
|
VLP Guest
Okay, I have solved, for the most part, getting rid of Surf Safari, Ezula, SaveNow or whatever, BUT, I still have that stupid address.com helper, which when I e-mailed them, it came back undeliverable. I am still trying to find out how to remove it. I think downloading Address.com was the WORST mistake I have ever made!! And every once in a while, I STILL am being barraged with constant pop-up ads like one right after the other. I think my computer needs FIXING!! ARGGH! Anybody else with suggestions on how to TOTALLY REMOVE ADDRESS.COM FROM MY COMPUTER? Thanks.

When Address.com was first interoduced, it was the best. Then their supporting sofware \"Spinway\", lost intrest in small money clients. Apparentley the ceo, made a decision to continue service, no matter what it took. If users had to suffer, so be it. The back door viruses that they call software, is to pay for their services. Every three minutes, address.com surfers visit the sponsers. So much for anything free there. If you''re not satisfied too pay this way, do not delete programs- Uninstall only. If by chance you come acrossed a program that won''t uninsall, go to a good anti-virus site, like McAfee and try there uninstll services. They usally give you a free try at least once. When you see how good it works, I''ll bet you''ll be happy to buy their services. STAY AWAY FROM THE DELETE BUTTON.

Title: Don''t even try it
|
|
Jerry Guest
After going through the sign-up and giving all the \"required\" information, I tried to start the isp. I kept getting the e-mail telling me that my acvcount wouldn''t be activated until I took advantage of one of the offers. Followed the links to check on activation and all were activated. Still kept getting the e-mails. Then started getting e-mails about \"wrong password\" even though I could go to the address.com website and use the password to access messages.
Replied to the fourth e-mail and waited for a response. It was returned as undeliverable five days later. So bye-bye address.com
The hassle just isn''t worth it.

Title: the true about address.com
|
|
Cletus Guest
I downloaded address.com about 2 months while looking at free isps. It''s commercial-break-instead-of-a-ad-bar feature is innovative. However, I noticed that the extra 2\" of screen space wasn''t that significant when u consider the commercial breaks they force on u. If u don''t view a commercial every 4 mins by surfing the net(as opposed to looking at just one page),it will disconnect. If u click on stop when a ad pops up, it will disconnect. Not only that, but it also ''infected'' my other isps. When i''m surfing the net using aol or netzero, ads from address.com will pop up! This fisp is not worth the time and problem it will cause u.

Anyone knows how to \"completely\" remove this piece of trash they call free isp? Even after I used address.com''s own remove program and reinstalled both IE and Netscape AND remove/reinstall my network protocol (TCPIP) this thing still lurks in the background. It might seem that it''s gone but it''s not ''cuz notice in the status window of the browser when we connect to a web site, before we get to it, sometimes you would see the word address.com appear of split seconds in the status window! The more obvious evidence that address.com is spying on all of us is that sometimes when you enter an invalid link or link to an address that doesn''t exist anymore, the browser would bring us to address.com''s link error page. Recently I''ve been experiencing site connection problems.. I''d still be connected to my ISP (not address.com) but can''t connect to any sites. What I suspect is that address.com had modified some Windows'' internal files so that now every link we click on will go through address.com''s proxy before it lets us connect to our destination. Usually we won''t notice that but when their proxy server is at peak usage, we would see that the internet connection is still blinking but we can''t go anywhere. What they do is uncalled for. Microsoft should sue their @sses for tampering with Windows.
Any hackers out there who know how to monitor what files Address.com had modified so we all can overwrite them with the original Windows files?

Again, if you read the terms of service, it tells you exactly how to remove it.
SOFTWARE REMOVAL. To REMOVE Address.com from your computer, DO NOT simply delete the files! Go to: START---> PROGRAMS---> ADDRESS.COM---> UNINSTALL ADDRESS.COM. This will remove Address.com properly and return your browser to it''s original settings.

If you read the Terms of Service before you installed it, you would have known that you have a choice of which subjects interest you. This is what it says:
We are providing you software that, when downloaded on your computer system will notify you of offers that may be of interest to you by adding a Address.com overlay to text of Web sites you visit. Upon the opening of any World Wide Web Page, the software scans the Web Page, marks on your screen words and/or phrases with a highlighted + underlined, for which there are associated Web sites and creates active links to such sites. This highlighting and underlining are not part of the page you are on, but are overlays provided by Address.com. When you \"left-click\" on the marked word or phrase, you will be taken directly to a third party Web site, and if the marked word or phrase is part of a pre-existing link, a pop-up display will ask you if you would like to go to the original link or to the third party Web site. Links provided by Address.com will be clearly marked and are not provided by the Web site you are visiting. If you follow any link and wish to return to the site where you were, simply click the Back button. In addition, you may from time to time receive updates to the software, directly to your computer while you are on-line.

You''ll find that the program was secretly installed on your system. So just go to your ADD/REMOVE program (Left click on START button, then click SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL & finally ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM/SOFTWARE. Look for the SURF name in the list that pops up -- plus the names of anything else that may have been installed w/out your permission on your system while you used this \"free\" program (like EZULA or SAVENOW to name a few).

Wing Zero Guest
There is one word to describe this evil geniuse of a isp.....VIRUS!!!!
Thats right!
Commercials pop up every 2-3 minutes forcing you to their website even though you are somewhere else.
AIM is somehow shut off and cannot be turned on.
You CANNOT play any online games like Starcraft on b.net...also shut off somehow.
After you deleted this from your hardrive all this crap is still there because it installed files all over your Windows folder and they are hidden files.
Unless you want to spent hours or days fixing you comp dont download this gayass p00p *** program.

THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL SITE WE HAVE EVER CONTACTED. THE SITES REPRESENTITIVE, MIKE PERONE, WAS USELESS IN TRYING TO HANDLE A MINOR PROBLEM. HE MAY BE MORE SUITED TO WORKING UNDER THE GOLDEN ARCHES. IN ANY CASE HE'S DEFINITELY IN THE WRONG BUSINESS. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITE, WE CAUTION ANYONE FROM USEING THEM. A LARGE NO CONFIDENTS VOTE!!!
