Title: Address ***!!
|
|
Tamara Guest
Last night, my 2nd time using it, the damn thing kept
disconnecting within 5 mins of connection. I couldn''t
figure out how to make it NOT disconnect. I was using
IE (5.5) and was clicking on banners and stuff on their
website,,, but BOOM! (Wanna Work Offline?)
I was sooo "ticked". Then I called the support line which
ended up being for Paid Service ONLY!!! I couldn''t even
write to the cause I COULDN\"T
STAY CONNECTED LONG ENOUGH!
In general the service ***. It totaly screws w/your
browsers, and there is no help available...

if ur having trouble getting rid of the evil address
isp and savenow go into my computer, control panel,
add/remove programs and find address then click
add/remove on it and it will be completely deleted, do
the same for savenow. you might have to uninstall it
first though. it will completely delete all of its
components. good luck

Address doesn''t work; takes over Internet Explorer so you, for example, can''t control cookies, places adware that does work on your HD and will not be unistalled either manually, by any of Norton''s programs.
I had to reinstall Windows with disk formatting to be able to control my puter again.
It is a fraud, a sham and a destructive program, in my experience.

cutting off after around five minutes im on it now and its

6 bucks a month and I get unlimited access at 56K..no
software or banneradds or \"Commercials\" to see.. it is

Title: They basically lied
|
|
duped Guest
I did the same thing as you a good while back.......
I erased everything I could possible find. I''m still
finding their crap on my computer. Worst of all is
their bad address page that still plagues me.
The agreement I read when I downloaded their program
said that I could COMPLETELY remove everything if I
decided not to use address.com. Well that was a flat
out lie!!!!
BEWARE!!!

Disgruntled Surfer Guest
I uninstalled address.com through add/remove programs
and used ad-Aware multiple times, but portions of
Toptext and the \"Address Helper\" are still plaguing my
system. Does anyone know how to get rid of these
things?

I downloaded the setup program and ran it. Before I
actually installed the address.com dialer I happened
to hit ctrl-alt-delete and noticed that a program
called SaveNow was already running. I canceled the
install immediately knowing these were 3rd party
spyware programs that run all the time (even when not
connected to adress.com). I then rebooted my computer
and even though I had not installed the adress.com
software the SaveNow program was installed and running.

Title: Avoid like the plague...

Rev. D. Clark Guest
...unless you enjoy marginal support. I signed up for
the pay service. I figured at $8/mo, if it''s not up to
par, I learned a cheap lesson. Let me save you some
money: The web based email never worked. Not once.
Tech Support and Billing passed that one back and
forth for a week. I was able to log on and surf, even
able to play various online games! No email, though. I
rolled with it for awhile; tried to log in one morning
and no connect. \"User ID and/or password does not
match\". Called tech support, and they said the account
was canceled. WHo canceled it? \"I don''t know\". If
anyone has any suggestions for an ISP, I''d greatly
appreciate it. AVOID THESE DOLTS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

|
|
June Guest
Try as I might, I can''t get this one to work. I
registered, downloaded the software (and let them
reconfigure my browser!) and installed their
stuff.....when I go to log in all I get is seconds
counting with no connection. I don''t like the fact
that it can go in and modify my system files. I have
removed this one completely (I hope)

Title: Help you all out...
|
|
Frederf Guest
I can help those of you who have problems with ads (Adress.com or not). Once, I left my computer hooked up to a LAN at a friend''s house and left for lunch. I had just booted up, hadn''t had any IE windows up (in fact, Explorer and systray were the only progs running). When I came back I had 6 pop-ups; that is when a friend showed me this.
It''s a cleaner program that will scare the crap out of you. When I first ran it I had 160 things to get rid of (reg keys, progs, files, etc.) and I ain''t no AOLer either.
Also, if you''re using Win98/98SE type \"msconfig\" in your run menu [start button] and select \"Selective Startup\", go ahead and uncheck anything expcept Explorer, systray, and anything you want to boot with. I currently boot with 97% of resources free.

Y.M. Guest
I agree with most of the posts here...save yourself and DO NOT install this crap. It does not uninstall properly. I use a different ISP and get errors galore due to the crappy adress.com program corrupting everything.
Thanks for posting the removing address.com .
Peace

This is bad software - don''t install address.com''s garbage. You are better off with a netzero or bluelight account than address.com''s junk. I uninstalled the software and The popup adds still were coming up - was throwing me off my paid isp - save yourself some serious aggravation do not install address.com

Title: Stay away from Address
|
|
jjb Guest
I downloaded address.com and made the biggest mistake of my surfing life. I had these pop up adds constantly even when I was using a different isp. I counted them one night and in 5 minutes I had 65 pop up adds. They simply wouldn''t stop. Address.com has become like a virus. It simply wouldn''t stop. I ended up re-formating my hard drive to stop the banners. I even went to some of the advertisers to ask them to stop. What a disaster.
