Title: Netzero company is nothing but hustlers
|
|
Man I am heka "ticked" off about Netzero. I tried to cancel Netzero and they refused to help me cancel my account. WTF is that? All they said was, "oh we'll give you 10 free hours every month if you need" Man I was like cancel my damn account alrite. At the end of the phone call, I still was stuck with netzero(in fact, i'm still stuck with them rite now!). Also, I've been experiencing that our phone bill is rising like crazy (we didn't even have long distance!). I called netzero about the situation & they denied everything that I told them. Those cheaters! Anyone who is thinking of trying Netzero PLEASE, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRY AT ALL.

Title: Netzero illegally takes money from your bank account!

Do NOT use this ISP! It has been a nightmare dealing with them. Their software upgrades itself to the point where it no longer works with your modem, THEN when you cancell your account they pull a fast one with a "free month" thing to thank you for being a customer and then continue to bill your account for months afterwards! Google it! There is page after page of the same thing happening to other people. They refuse to refund anything more than two months because "I shouldve caught it before now" or some crap! Isn;t there anything we as consumers can do?

Title: Netzero Ponzi Scheme
|
|
grrinn Guest
We've figured out why we continuously get booted off Netzero "for unknown reasons" as their little alibi popup claims, (usually right in the middle of an important download). They are selling way more subscriptions than they have servers for and must boot their customers off for so many hours per day to allow others on, even though we are supposed to be paying for 24-7 service. We are going to DSL and pay more per month because Netzero's 6-month $9.95 deal is now, after 3 months, costing us $17.95 with no extra service. Matter of fact the service gets worse. Their chubby CEO with the grump on his lip should be named Ponzi because it appears as if Netzero is grabbing all it can get before heading for the tall timber. They are getting to be as bad as AOL.

I also had problems and when trying to cancel the service no one was around to answer my phone calls. I used a credit card for my 9.95 a month and even had a hard time canceling the credit card due to automatic withdrawles from netzero. Please do not use!!
ex netzero user!

Title: fraudulent charges a year later
|
|
missthangf Guest
I had service cancelled in June of 2005 in April of 2006 $49.35 was taken from my bank account for some sort of deal. Spoke to supervisor who said they only cancelled a type of service not the entire service as instructed. Now I have bounced check for a utility due to their scam. The service was so slow and no support cannot believe anything they say so now I am in process of changing my account so if charges come up it will be on them and I will prosecute.[/b]

Title: Canceling NetZero is the hard part
|
|
buddy4022 Guest
Good luck to you canceling. Just a couple of tips. Don't accept whatever they tell you over the phone. Get it in writing (email). They will NOT cancel you. They will attempt to continue to charge you. They will also assign you to a "free account". They do this hoping you will slip up and use it and it allows them to charge their advertisers more based on number of accounts. Don't waste your time calling after your first notification to them your intent to cancel. If you don't get written confirmation the same day then start sending emails to their billing department and file a complaint with the BBB. Watch your checking account or credit card account closely for several months after canceling. It took two weeks for me to get them to finally put in writing that I had canceled and owed them nothing. It would not of happened had I not filed a complaint with the BBB.

Title: OK but could be better
|
|
close_to_zero Guest
I've had NetZero for several years with only a few minor minor issues. My biggest concern now though is that NetZero has a tendency to download a LOT of "updates" on your computer which not only *** up limited dialup resources but does so in a "stealth" manner. As a user I never know who or what is trying to access my computer because NetZero does not flag their programs as being NetZero applications. It's a crap shoot as to whether to allow the download to continue. Responses from their "Tech Support" (don't expect much there either) are canned, not at all about the question at hand, and useless.
Another NetZero issue to be aware of is the spam they cram in your mailbox from their United Marketing arm. They give you all kinds of spam and pop up blockers but do not block their own crap with which they bombard you. Plus you cannot manually opt out of their junk.
I will most likely look for a more forthcoming IPS because I now have a low level of confidence with NetZero does behind the scenes.

There is no customer service. I couldn't believe it either. It's the business office or "tech support"

sewjazz Guest
It's a hell of a scam. Give people a program that screws up their computer. Make it so they don't have access to the free tech support on the internet. Tell them they only pay while talking to the tech and charge from the initial connection. And don't give any useful information so they have to keep calling back. They must make a fortune!!!!!!!!!!!

Only upgraded about 6 weeks ago. Family member diagnosed with cancer and need to research. Bad bad mistake, can't receive emails, type in a search and it doesn't SEARCH, could live with the pop ups. Wish I had seen this message board before I upgraded. Don't signon often, too frustating. I guess I'll start my quest to cancel this terrible service, if anyone has been successful in canceling, please give tips. May call the better business bureau for help.
