Question about Free Antivirus/free firewall product

Are the free antivirus/free firewall programs better than commercial product? I heard of some prkgram called EZtrust EZarmor that is providing a free internet security suite program which includes a virus scanner and a firewall. The web address is http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ Hs anyone heard of this one?

EZTrust is from Computer Associates. They were excellent when I used them a few years back. CAs current offer is for one year of free updates.

There are other totally free programs. Among them are AntiVir and Sygate Personal Firewall.... both of which I currently use.
