now there is NO excuse for you to not have a good firewall and anti-virus, they will give free updates for a year!

Thanks for posting that... 'specially since my free trial of Norton AV is about to expire... now it looks like I'll be set for at least another year...

Avast Home scored better than CA in virus shootouts. That said, both should provide adequate protection for your PC.

Hi:
I am interested ONLY in Computer Associates' eTrust EZ Anti-Virus, as I have been happily using ZoneAlarm (and sometimes Sygate) for the past 3 years. I doubt if CA's firewall is highly regarded as a solid inbound/outbound protector the way ZoneAlarm & Sygate are. Hence, I don't care to use it.
Does anyone know if CA offers a free year of only their anti-virus program? If so, do you have a link to their download webpage?
Thanx. |

if you click that link it will take you to the story and if you read down at the bottom is the link to the software. it is safe/works and it is an effort by ca and micro$oft to get all to use a firewall and anti-virus with current updates
they update often and i can see no reason why someone who is not safe would not use it !
this is a link about their anti-virus
http://ca.com/
i work a few support boards and you would be amaized at the number of people with an outdated anti-virus ( useless) or no firewall, that will post that they are having computer problems. where a 20/20 hindsight would have helped them! |

I use eTrust EZ Anti-Virus It is ok. It is not a great email Anti-virus software because you have to open a file before it sees the virus it will stop it then. But if you were to relay a email without opening it. You would relay the virus. I did buy it because it works good on my old p 150 and my ISP has a very good email Anti-virus soft-ware. Also the automatic updates work well. They are short and seem to come often so the virus list is always up to date. _________________ Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. | I downloaded the free EZArmor software to try it out. The download only has the anti-virus part - no firewall or popup blocker as advertised. The flyer says 18MB but only 9MB. Guess they have not included the other components yet. |

UPDATE!!!!
Well after several days of EMAIL to CA and submitting logs and numerous error logs I finally got the firewall to install. CA indicated that there seemed to be a problem with a previous version of Zone Alarm that I had installed. It;'s true - I was using Zone Alarm (FREE) and had uninstalled it prior to the install of the EZtrust Armor software. To make the story short there was left over references in my registry to ZoneAlarm (3 to be exact). I edited the registry and removed them, rebooted, and installed EZtrust Armor. WOW -- the firewall installed. BUT!!!! Guess what? The firewall is Zone Alarm!! It looks just like it with the exception of where you see the words Zone Alram you now see EZtrust Firewall. Can you believe it. Even the icon in the tsakbar blinks like ZoneAlrm when active.
Does anyone know the relationship between CA and Zone Labs? |
