Crazy Browser is definitly worth the time it takes to download, which is practically no time at all... What it actually is though is a new front end for IE... So even though things look different it is still actually using the guts of IE to do the job, that's why it's such a small download...It will add the MDI (Multi Document Interface) and several other goodies that IE probably shoulda had a while ago, and will probably be adding now that Mozilla, Netscape and Opera have incorporated them... Anyone that doesn't like Mozilla, give Crazy Browser a try at  www.crazybrowser.com  , or if you have the money go to  www.netcaptor.com  and get Netcaptor, it's practically the same but it's shareware so ya gots ta pay da man, to the tune of $29.95...If ya do, tell Adam I said Hi, I did some of the beta testing on some of the earlier versions of Netcaptor and some of the extras included in it were my suggestions...

Cool

So, EasyriderFL, which browser do you use -- Mozilla, Crazy Browser, or Netcaptor or something else?

I tried K-Meleon (a smaller version of Mozilla) but uninstalled it. It was too buggy for my tastes. However, I installed Mozilla 1.1 last night and so far I like it a lot. The tabs are that plodr pointed out are a nice feature, particularly for those of us on dialup. So far, it seems quite stable without any obvious bugs.

I use three browsers mainly... IE6 is my default, just cause it makes things easier with some of the websites I visit... I also use Mozilla, and have used it as my default as well and with a little more improvement it may become a permanent default browser (only thing I really don't like in it is the download manager but I kinda get the impression it's still being worked on)... The browser that I actually use for most of my web-browsing is Opera 6.05 and I'm even a registered user... Can't wait until Opera 7 comes out, even if it may mean having to reregister... Speakin' of Opera 7 you can read about it at  http://www.opera.com/news/opera07/

If you are having problems with slow loading webpages with Mozilla, it could be because of a corrupted profile, just go into profile manager and delete the offending profile (along with its' files) and create a new one with a unique name, this can fix many problems associated with Mozilla. Crazy Browser is just a skin, more or less, for IE and is subject to the same security issues. Also I would recommend to download the shockwave and flash plugins as well as JRE 1.4 beta for Mozilla, available at their websites or Mozilla.org, just do a search of the site for plugins.

Or, you may be able to get away with clearing out the cache folder and deleting the cookies.txt file. However, if you're using cookie manager on the newer versions of Netscape, you don't want to delete cookperm.txt.

I downloaded and tried Mozilla basically because I wanted to give a "smaller" guy a chance in the web browsing world and also because I thought virtually anybody could make a browser that didnt require as much computer resources as Microshaft;s wares do.

Found out I was wrong. The browser was much slower than my current IE v.4 browser obtained straight from the Win 98 installation CD. This was especially true when the browser first fired up. I know Im running an older system here, but I would expect the competitions stuff to at least do as well as a M.S.'s product from 4 + years ago.

How old of a system do you have? Last winter, I tried installing opera5 on an old 100Mhz laptop with win95. So very slow. Uninstalled it and installed opera3.62 (32bit version) and it worked very well. Latest browsers dont work well on older systems, they werent designed for them. IE5 is odd case in that its just patched IE4 (IE4 had lot bugs and MS wanted people to forget it). Also IE4/IE5 was still designed to support win95. Heck they even made a 16bit version of IE5 that ran on win3.1 Want to see something really slow, look at a java site with win3.1 running IE5 on an old computer.

So your real test would be to upgrade to IE6. Bet it would be as slow as latest Mozilla on your system.

Are you talkin' about it seeming to load slower than IE... don't forget that IE has the advantage of already being in memory even before you open it... so any other browser is gonna seem to load a lot slower, that's why Mozilla included the Quick Launch option so it will stay loaded in memory like IE... Otherwise maybe you should just wait and see how Phoenix turns out... You can check it out at  http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/ph...notes.html  but I wouldn't really recommend it yet, this isn't even an Alpha release yet much less a Beta... Looks kinda interestin' though...
