I currently use soft-home.net e-mail service and retrieve mail using either Netscape Mail or Opera Mail. If I use an ISP that does not offer POP mail service can I still connect to soft-home and get mail via Netscape/Opera?

Yes, and you can send e-mail using SoftHome's unique SMTP port or the SMTP server that the new ISP provides.

Hey BOZ,

He said RECIEVE mail... Not SEND mail

softhomes pop server is still port 110 ? If they block pop, then he wouldn't get it.

Can still get it at the website, but that kinda ***!

Well, I guess I just learned something new! Of the 15 or so Free ISP's and the two pay ISPs I have used, I never had INCOMING mail blocked. I have never heard of this before. What ISPs block INCOMING mail?

Thanks for the info. I should have stated "send" also in the original post. I use AVON but do not have e-mail configured at all with them. I am considering a new ISP since AVON is going to $12.95, and I am confused about the pop/web or lack of these services that some offer and unsure of what would happen to my softhome account. I have already been thru 4 pay ISPs this year and e-mail always seemed a problem to reconfigure until I got softhome. I just want to avoid the headaches if I switch providers.

unregistered, I just finished a free trial with TalentGroup ($7.99 a mo) which worked great sending and receiving mail using Outlook Express with Softhome which is my default mail server. Softhome works great with my Qualguard. Even when an ISP doesn`t advertise that they support pop3 mail service, Softhome seems to work with them. An ISP may not have a pop server as part of their service, but a good pop3 mail server like Softhome, Mochamail, and Tifan should work with it. I use all three servers with Mochamail and Tifan as backups. Grin
