|

Upon reflection on some hard paintings, I saw several benefits to learning graphic software. So, I learned a software called mtpaint, yesterday. Here are the benefits:
1. Quickly sketch pictures and see how they come out
2. Paint on layers. This is a fast process, shows the effects soon and saves time.
3. Manipulate pictures to get better or desired images/effects that can be painted later.
4. Make Digital art. This opens an entire new world.
5. Use this as a learning tool, to make trial/error faster and progress.
I still have about 1.5 chapters to go. Also, need to revise, get familiar with what I learned and learn to apply them better in practical situations. Bamboo etc., is not needed. All that is needed is time and dedication, if you are reading this message you already have the PC, lots of free graphic software on net for download. So, I hope this encourages atleast one another person to try this.
Here is the software I am using:

Any related info./tips concerning graphic software are welcome. Thanks in advance. _________________

Once a graphic software is learned, the rest seem similar. Here is the GIMP doc. below. I glanced it out of interest:
http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/
Main difference between mtpaint and this one is that cGIMP offers script-fu, the ability to script often used but complex operations. It also offers a wide variety of filters. _________________

I've heard of Gimp but not mtpaint.
Vijay, if you haven't been there yet, I think you'd enjoy seeing some of the work submitted by members of Deviant Art. Here's the Digital Art category: http://browse.deviantart.com/digitalart/ _________________ Freedomlist.com (March 1, 2000 - 2013)

Thanks for the above. I just learned there is software for Bitmap art and vector images. Still need to learn about the later. Have to learn Inkscape and Open Office Draw for this. _________________
