AVG Free Edition 2012

I did a Custom Install to avoid the toolbar.

First it is a big download 139 MB (no firewall)(eScan)with firewall 185MB

It seem very commercial.

It has one scan which takes sometime. (no fast or smart scan)A full scan
with Security Essentials take a very long time.

"A full scan on my standard clean test system took just 16 minutes, and a repeat scan finished in less than two minutes. That's plenty fast. The average scan time for recent products on this same system is 25 minutes."

Yep, Second scan is faster.

You CAN scan drives or files.

By default only in coming email is scanned. You can set it to scan the out going email.

Daily Virus Updates seem easy.It tells you when it is updating with a little triangle on the toolbar icon.

It let my email come in and go out.
It's not getting in the way of my browsing or other
computer activity. (so far)

It seems stable (time will tell)

One good thing about AVG Free Edition 2012 the virus updates are in the big down load. So if you have dial-up and you download it on a friends hi-speed-internet you are all set.

This is no small thing as many pay and free antivirus download an installer which tries to download a very large virus update file.
So you can't even install the software and try and do it manually.

Also opting out of Product Improvement Program is a good idea if you have slow internet speed it was UPloading a very big file.

Well I had stop using AVG Free It caused an error on boot-up

My general thought on AVG free Is that it is a messy program.

It needs to be tightened up some. May try it again next year.
