I purchased Magic Jack at Radio Shack and installed in on my Windows computer. It seemed to work fine. I decided to move it to a different computer and when I went to uninstall the unneeded software, there is no uninstall option either in the software or in control panel. I checked several forums and the Magic Jack website. I found the mjRemover.exe on the Magic Jack site.

When I downloaded it Trend Micro Antivirus says the file is infected with PAK_Generic.001, an untreatable virus. BEWARE Magic Jack software may be infected with an untreatable virus.

I didn't see any other reports of this when I took a quick look on Google...

Maybe it was a false positive. I immediately scanned the rest of the machine and it didn't find anything else.

I would have liked to send something to the company but could not find an email address anywhere on their site. Guess I could try the one on one support.

It makes me wonder if the software on the dongle might be infected too.
I am not sure if Trend is setup to scan a usb drive automatically.

I agree maybe is a false positive, I've had the magic jack for years and I didn't detect any files.

That should be helpful to rayrayray who posted this in May of 2010.
