I've been following this story off and on since it started several months ago, and I can hardly believe it. How can you take a pad, put alcohol on it, and get in trouble? I thought alcohol attacks germs, that is why they put it on scrapes and wounds, if it's available.
Incredibly, some maufacturer has been selling alocohol soaked pads and they've been killing people.
| Quote: | A massive recall of potentially contaminated alcohol prep products by a second manufacturer is raising sharp questions about an entire category of medical supplies: non-sterile pads and swabs, infection experts say......
...... follow the recall last month of nearly 300 million individual non-sterile alcohol prep products manufactured and distributed by Pacific Disposables International Inc. of Orangeburg, N.Y.....
......Bacillus cereus bacteria found in Triad prep products have been blamed for deaths and devastating infections in patients nationwide. Federal officials shut down the firms in June to prevent distribution of tainted medical wipes and other supplies. |

Very interesting. I had heard somewhere that alcohol wasn't the ultimate disinfectant, but I never learned the details.
A quick search suggests it can't kill some types of spores, but maybe there's more to it than that. |

Alcohol is very effective when used correctly. It must be at least 80-proof, made in Kentucky or Tennessee, and administered orally in 1.5 ounce doses a minimum of 4 times per hour.
Please drink responsibly |

My husband is on insulin. I use only sterile cotton with 90% alcohol, although, I may just have to switch to

Of course, that dosage would be for me. He'll continue with the other regimen. _________________ Freedomlist.com (March 1, 2000 - 2013)

This is the versatile, cold remedy, cough syrup, toothache remedy, original anesthetic, etc.
Taken as prescribed, by: Dr. Pruneface, it soothes all pain, as needed
I always had preferred cotton balls and rubbing alcohol.
I have seen the pads used on a regular basis in medical facilities. |
