I tried to tried it. It caused my HP printer process to use all my CPU
So my Guess is it is buggy. _________________ Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly,

| Be very aware if you are running Vista. There are several threads at MajorGeeks with people having trouble with Commodo's v3 firewall and Vista. It can also be a bear to uninstall. (I believe it was the stand alone firewall). |

I Have had No issues with Version 3 (final update)
Version 4 However Has also Had Installation issues
and they have had to Publish 3 installation programs to rectify matters
I am Leaving details in a separate topic for everybody to Install Version 4 1st time and we can put this Forum wide issue behind us
(even the Comodo forums Have been live on this) |

|
|
With all the bad news links you'd think it was a bad Program?
As I said I Installed it on the 3rd Version and Deleted the old Comodo Registry entries You have to locate and delete: this is off my other Original Topic
| Quote: | After Uninstalling COMODO version 3 .Then, with great care... NOTE Ask if you aren't confident
Go into the Registry Via Regedit on the Run Box Locate and delete the Entries Marked:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Comodo
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ComodoGroup (I had the Latter name)
also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComodoGroup which is in the Next section down if they are showing?
Next, Run CCleaner on the Registry Cleaner to clear out any remains and then Reset the PC
NOW You can install the Newest Version 4 Installer Setup Download it to a folder or the Desktop before you Do any of this!
Disregard the Toolbar and feed back link offers (Am No fan of Toolbars)
And B) DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT to "Run" as it will clash with Version 3 and then There will be big Trouble!
Has to be done in this strict order OK?
|
Next question is: Has it all Installed Properly this time and Not stalled on this install version?
...and have you deleted Version 3? It is NOT an "overwrite" despite the end result looking Similar!
Tip that Helped Me: Reinstall Your SP3 File! Is a straight overwrite
Some running tips :
The Anti Virus data is a Separate download and the Scheduled "Virus Defence" weekly file Scan May have to be Moved Click the Antivirus link Note it is similar to Avast! but it is Not Fast Takes forever to scan even a Handful of Files
Be aware that the Pending Files List, for moving Unchecked updates to the Safe or Blocked Files lists later. Has been moved from the Front Page of Version 3 to the New? Defence+ Tab on Version 4 Which has all Other File Holding links Here too
OH I forgot The first few times you Encounter Firewall events(with Version #4) A White Pop up shows asking if you want the run the application in a Sand box? My advice 99% of the time is reply NO unless It feels wrong?...Have not found out where to release a "Sand boxed" item yet If It slips through or you cannot make your mind up Something Like Avast! Will stop it if it starts trouble
These are a 1 off event the Old Colored version Permission Popup is shown in future(which has Been simplified) See installation Mode sentence Below--->
Conclusion It is improved over the Last version and there is Not as Much Messing about with New file and the revised Location are an improvement and The New data window has done away with the installation Mode routine which a Newbie would miss and Be clicking in Individual files and Missing surfing time! Now goes into the Installation mode with No Prompt or message window
Only Con Is the Sand box Mode popup The Majority of inexperienced computer owners are Not sure about the Labelling of some computer file names and there is a small chance that they could stop/disrupt a key Windows or Internet Explorer Running process
For My Purposes I like it and its easy to run Awarding it 8 out of 10 But for the bad install routines and Sand Box Popups I'd have given it a 9
Edit Note by Corrine:
WARNING Do NOT edit the registry unless you (1) know what you are doing and (2) create a registry backup first. |

You said it. When a security software needs the kind of work-around described by Answerpooler to install properly, I advise giving it a wide berth. _________________ Freedomlist.com (March 1, 2000 - 2013)
