The GOP had represented the region for more than a century. Republican John McHugh vacated the seat to become Army secretary.

Yes, the ultra conservatives in the Republican party are making no secret of the fact that they are trying to drive moderate Republicans out. They call the moderates RINOs, (Republicans In Name Only), and attack them relentlessly. Lately they have even taken to getting together in groups of pickup trucks and berating these moderates at their rallies, very much reminiscent of the abusive behavior at those town hall meetings this summer.
This race was supposed be some sort of triumph for conservativism over "RINOism". Turned out to be a triumph of the desire for power over common sense. The conservatives just turned over a House seat that was solid Republican for over 100 years to the Democrats because they absolutely had to have it their way. |

The Republicans seem to want to go back to a time before Reagan.
Reagan appealed to the moderates and conservatives.
I am not sure what the conservatives stand for. If you take it by what they do. They run government very badly, They would have their moral code put in to law and they like to start wars .
The liberals are not happy with the moderates either. _________________ Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly,
