Look else where and pay someone else.

You've been misinformed. It is seven minutes of consecutive time. Not seven minutes per day. Disconnects are made on free users every seven minutes to allow that line back into use for the modem pool. We do not bar users from re-connecting after seven minutes. You can connect seven minutes at a time consecutively forever. And for the paid accounts, we charge the minimum we can to cover our expenses which are quite substantial, since our servers are hosted with Peer1 at 151 Front Street in Toronto which is where all the major ISPs are routed together. Currently we have approximately 5000 customers in the GTA, Scarborough and Missisauga of which more than 4000 use the basic (or free) level of access. If we distributed the cost of operation evenly across the entire user base it would cost approximately 35 cents per user, however, the users who pay for any level of service are currently directly paying for all user access. We are not subsidized by the government, money from advertising, or money from demographics-collecting agencies. Even basic (free) service with us provides email, web space, ftp and telnet access. If you have only the most basic dialup terminal of some sort the internet and email is accessible to you through a text interface including PINE and Lynx. We also provide at-cost Linux based machines with internet access to those without means to purchase a new computer and commercial operating system, support other community organisations with at-cost bandwidth and networking services, and tech support for the hearing impaired.

The only thing that is not nice about their service, is the 3web yellow banner bar that cannot be minimized.

Better deal than Juno or Netzero, and a lot of other ISPs that offer dial-up service to Canada. Netzero charges $9.95/month U.S. - No mention of that on their web site.
They also claim to offer free internet service that is not available in Ontario.

A better deal than Toronto Freenet. Their dial-up service is quite unreliable, and slow, even as a paid service.

Very expensive for the service, or lack of service that they provide in either case.

If you want a decent low priced service, consider 3Web.

3web Devilish gets my dander up. Slow, disconnects, full of advertising, must put up with a desktop full of 3web junk and 3web web pages that can't be done away with. YUCK....Be Rid of 3web....use 295.ca fast and for the most part reliable...no adverts, unlimited access. access ur mail from anywhere. Under $50.00 a yr. and .50 per mo. goes to sick kids hospital.
Super super!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm trying to understand why this service isn't free. It used to be. 20 minutes 9am to Midnight and Midnight to 9am. That's kind of pathetic. And yes it is slow and sometimes even so busy that it's a headache to get through your 20 minutes. They need to restructure or get some sponsership or something to give people more minutes. They're only providing access to a limited number of people. It's not like they're providing access to the whole country like 3Web. They said that they went to 20 minutes for free because people would abuse having free internet and stay on for hours. Well what did they expect? Oh well 20 mins is better than nothing I guess so give it a try.

This ISP ***, shouldn't bother wasting your time. Just pay $20 / month for a Sympatico account. Sprint ***, so don't bother.

The information I read on their site doesn''t indicate at
all that they provide a free service. They should change
the name. What I read indicates that you get all of 20
minutes a day for free. 5 minutes at a time. Big deal.
Unlimited access is $20.00 per month! If someone
reads anything different, please let me know.

Post  Title: Great, now how do I sign up?

Mark
Guest
I''ve tried to sign up for several months, but NONE of
their registrations services work. One (torfree.net)
just says they''re working on the registration service,
the other (spadina.torfree.net) tells me how to
register, however it gives me an error immediately
after the instructions and kicks me off.
SOMEONE, please, tell me what the email address is for
their accounts department, I can''t stand Netzero anymore.
