Title: cancelling peoplepc
|
|
I disconnected PeoplePC 6 months ago and they still withdrew money from my credit card. I called them two times and wrote down the cancellation number but they still charge my credit card. I will not recommend anybody to use this ISP. I will file the complaint with BBB and Attorney General next week. This company has robbed so many customers. This needs to stop.

I've had People Pc since Decmeber. I have been having problems with the internet disconecting my accelerator dissapearing not being able to load web sites, and then the IM that is supposed to be compatible and is not. Have not been able to use AIM because it tells me there is no connection can't download anything from AOL and the same thing with Yahoo. Their technicians don't know what they are doing. I even had one last week admit that they really don't have any technicians and none of them are trained. They are basically reading of the computer and using a help software themselves. That would definitley explain the reason why most of my problems haven't been fixed. They didn't even turn on my accelerator until 3 months into the service; was told it was extra but they sign me up for the Security Pack. They couldn't figure out why that didn't work after they had me download it over 20 times. They had me uninstall my antivirus protection that I can't even redownload because the connection is so bad. I have gotten hung up on, yelled at and not transfered to a manager when I asked. They wanted me to uninstall my Windows Firewall, not just to turn it off but unistall it. They had me download the wrong files and sent me email to questions I never asked. These people really don't know what they are doing. They don't speak English enough either. They did however give me 5 months free. I just thought it was weird that my other ISP (dial up) workd with AIM but all of a sudden when I switched it quit. I am looking forward to upgrading at the end of this month to wireless internet.

I was transfered from Allvantage, which I liked, to peoplepc. I used it about a month without any problems. One day I couldn't get online, and a box came up telling me that the connecting numbers were changed and to look up for myself any that would work. I looked them up, but I found none that were local anymore, where before there were three. I was stuck without the ability to get online to find another provider, and had to eventually go to the phone book. I did end up calling peoplepc and a very nice man answered my quesitons and cancelled my account without any problems. I didn't get any more charges on my card.

Title: Problems with cancelling PeoplePC service
|
|
If you have to cancel your People PC service, triple check and call back multiple times to make sure the service in cancelled. I cancelled and was charged an additional SIX MONTHS by this ISP. The service and price is ok but watch out when you cancel!!! If you have an automatic deduction from your bank account, watch your account.

guys, its actually not the representatives fault coz theyre just assisting u guys with the cancellation. im a cs myself, had a problem recently with my computer so i thought of cancelling my account for awhile. I called people pc and the rep told me they can waive the charge for 1 month so i can have my pc fixed and dont have to resign up again. I said i'll just call back in a month's time to inform them about my computer.. They gave me the specific date as to when my free mnth will end.. BUt i forgot to call back so my next billing date came.. ( my fault i know, i forgot to call ) so i received a charged of 10.95 for the next month.... i asked te rep what's it all about, said its actually automatically charged.. but they refunded the money anyway so i got the money back and had to cancel my account ompletely and got a cancellation number
the thing there is.. when cancelling your account. MAKE SURE TO GET THE CANCELLATION NUMBER BECAUSE THATS IN THEIR TERMS AND AGGREEMENT , and by law , upon membership we agrreed to that. the rep who assisted me was so nice and corteous , she informed me everything and explained it well, so i didnt get mad ...
just a heads up, if ur cancelling, make sure to get the cancllation number.

I have been with Peoplepc for a while now and I've never had any real big problems with them and the problems I did have they always took care of it. I just signed up to their DSL service which is $10.95 for the first 3 months then it goes up to $21.95 a month. I like Peoplepc and I got a lot of my friends and family to join and they enjoy their service. I even cancelled my account a while back because I had got off line for a while and they cancelled it and never charged me a dime more.

Title: peoplepc - fraud
|
PeoplePC made it very difficult for me to cancel -- Upon research, I found hundreds of other similar cases. My comments and the California Attorney General's Office information are at www.utahsearch.com/peoplepc/. Even after it was cancelled, PeoplePC never refunded the money -- but did make many unfilled promises -- I still haven't received my money.
After cancelling, our credit card continued to be charged for 3 months after -- at which time we asked the bank to change our credit card number.
The "global" call center is located in New Delhi. I don't think you can blame the call center. They don't seem to have the authority or ability to handle complaints -- or to troubleshoot through issues. On the other hand, I think New Delhi operators are choosing to keep the accounts intact, rather than cancelling when asked. In my case, they told me they had cancelled my account -- but continued to charge my credit card.
My credit card continued to be charged until I changed my account number. I made many phone calls, emails and chat requests to get a refund on my money. Nothing! I wrote PeoplePC. Nothing. I then filed a complaint through the California Attorney General's Office. Magic (kind of). People PC responded to the Attorney General, stating that this must have been a clerk's error and promised to refund the money. Guess what -- that was about three months ago. I still have received -- nothing!
If we're going to get the Attorney General's office to take action, everyone needs to start reporting their situation. I have the online links at www.utahsearch.com/peoplepc. Give them some teeth by submitting what happened.
America Online was fined millions for similar complaints. It's time to go after PeoplePC. Oh yea -- the free CD I received from PeoplePC said that they accepted AOL email addresses (hmmmm).

Title: ***
|
After calling and cancelling them they still took the monthly payment
out of my bank account. I was not planning on this so I didn't have
the money in my account which resulted in NSF charge of $50.00
They say they don't owe me this money back,it wasn't they're fault.
Then to top it off, they did it again!!
Everything they told me they would do for me was all a lie, they have not
followed through with one thing. You really ***!!

I recently received a "free" CD from PeoplePC. I promptly tossed it in the trash. A few days later I received a few intimidating calls from PeoplePC wanting to know why I hadn't connected to their "dial up" network. Who in this day and age uses dial up??? This was in clear violation of the Do Not Call List rules. Two weeks later I find a $13.45 charge on my phone bill for monthly internet service w/ People PC, billed thru a company called ILD Teleservices. I immediately called my local phone company who removed the charge, but when I attempted to contact People PC, they wanted a password - the name of my first pet - to terminate service. Of course I had no password as I hadn't established service, so they informed me they could not help me. I called ILD Teleservices who told me they would stop charging me. The local phone company also called People PC, and received the same run around I did.
Then I called my local NBC affiliate and spoke with their consumer advocate reporter. Within minutes, my affiliation with People PC was ended. Or, in their words... "my account was now inactive." I am only speculating here, but I believe the TV people threatened to show up at People PC's headquarters in San Francisco with a news & camera crew in order to get "The Whole Story."
So, if you are having this problem, contact your local TV station.
By the way, NBC is considering doing a complete story on CRAMMING, the adding of fraudulent charges by a third party to your telephone bill. Apparently, People PC is not alone!

I had People Pc service @ 4 mths ago, for 1 week. I cancelled the service, after 5 days. Today, I get home, go on line to do my banking, & "OUT OF MY SURPRIZE", PeoplePc, has debeted my bank account for $6.97. So, I called the customer service #. Of course, I received a customer service person, I could NOT understand. I finally understood him enough, to tell him what my problem was. He asked me for my bank acct #. I told him, I would NOT give it to him, that he should already have it, since they were taking money out of my bank acct, without my authorization. He finally took my telephone #, found where I had cancelled my service several mths ago. Then, he tells me he's SORRY, but, without the confermation # they sent me 4 mths ago. they will NOT refund my money, nor STOP taking money from my bank acct. So, tomorrow, I will call my bank, & speak to the Bank President & ONCE & for all, Stop PEOPLEPC, from illegally taking money from ouyr bank accounts. I would NEVER use this service, ever again. When do they STOP??????????????? It's time the Better Business Bureau stopped these ISP providers .

Title: Tried PeoplePC because I had to
|
Hi, y'all!
I just did NOT know how well off I was when I was with Allvantage. It turns out that Allvantage's Web based e-mail reader was REALLY good. I'm STILL trying to find a mail reader that works as well.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks after being switched to PeoplePC I wasn't a happy camper. Their dialer software seems very slow. Having a window open just for them was a pain. The last straw was being told that I couldn't be on-line more than four hours at a time.
So, about five hours ago, I opened an account with DIALUP.CC. I'm connected with them as I compose this message. So far, so good...

Title: peoplepc is trying to force me to accept their transfer
|
As an old highstream customer I was automatically transferred to PeoplePC.
I refused the highstream transfer but was transferred anyway and PeoplePC has made it a nightmare to close the account I did not order or authorize. Their customer service is absolutely awful and inept to boot. They harassed me with phone calls to "welcome me" but when I said I am NOT a customer and want to cancel they either hung up or transfered me to the tech support phone that is not yet available (they called me this week at 9 am--who ever heard of not having tech support at 9 am?)
These guys don't want to let go. When I finally got through to the right department I was subjected to a grill about why I didn't want them. When I tried to get confirmed by email that I was really cancelled I got one email that gave me a cancellation number and another one that said they would not do a cancellation by email.
God help me these lunatics have my credit card info given to them by highstream against my wishes!
Please sign up with anyone else but Peoplepc--and cancel your credit card if you gave it to highstream
