Title: do not trust them
|
****DO NOT GET YEARLY SERVICE**** because I paid $39.95 for yearly service and after 5 month later, NO MORE CONNECTION. I sent them so many e-mails for to get the connection but no response. I e-mail them to cancel my account and NO RESPONSE. ONE YEAR LATER THEY E-MAIL ME about NEW BILL (They automatically renew my no connection service account). IF you cancel your account make sure you get cancellation confirm number. Now you know “THEY STEAL MORE THAN $3”. Also, watch out particularly one reviewer in this site “I MEAN former costumer service agent (I think, this person still work form them)”.
I do have plenty of knowledge to use their internet service.
*****CHEAP = headache, BIG HEADACHE. I would say their service not cheap*****

53.2 connection with them most times. Lowest was 49.0 a few times. VTISP is one of the best values for an ISP. ALWAYS get on the first try and never a disconnect.

This ISP is characterized by connection failures and frequent service drops.
It is all but impossible to terminate the service once they get your credit card account number. These people are crooks.
They are NOT indeed listed with the Better Business Burea. Contact the following for assistance if you become snared by these thieves:

Title: Cancelling....
|
|
JoeyM Guest
First, the BBB does have information on the company.
Second, make sure you're using the correct method to cancel. Follow the directions exactly as they describe.
VTISP has a LOT of subscribers (happy ones) and I doubt they would risk their reputation just so that they could steal your lousy $3.
I've been with them for a few months, could not be happier, and doubt I will have a problem when/if I decide to cancel.

Title: Difficult to cancel
|
|
DDH Guest
Trying to cancel is like pulling teeth. No response to emails. Phone number doesn't work. Sent email to the president of Access the Net, maybe he'll respond. Checked the VT BBB but they don't have any record of the company. Might have to have credit card company reverse charges. Hope you like the service because they will keep charging you for it even if you don't.

This service rocks! I have used most of the budget (under $5.00) ISP's at Freedomlist over the past three years,, and this is by far the best and cheapest! But if you're having problems surfing the web (if your browsing is s-l-o-w, then try doing what I did. Try downloading the Avant Browser (www.avantbrowser.com). It's freeware/donationware, so it won't cost you a cent (unless you care to contribute to them). And keep a backup copy on disk (just in case). This browser far better than using IE 6.0! Believe me--I went through that already! What? You don't get email?
Try MyWay's free service (www.myway.com). It's loaded with great features! Free emoticons (smileys) too! Have a great day, everyone!

I have been a very satisfied customer of VTISP for over two *years*. I liked it so much that I recently opened a second account to use at work. I'm in Massachusetts.
However, the original dial-up numbers for my account are inaccessible now due to snafu between Verizon and Worldnet (Globalnet). I understand that customers here and in California are affected.
VTISP was great about it and gave me access to other numbers that do work. The problem is that my connect speeds are almost half what they were (28k vs. 44k) on this entire set of new numbers.
Nothing else has changed. I obviously like VTISP but I can't go back to 28k!

I signed up for this service on 4/22/6. So far my debit card has not been charged but I do have service. I have been able to log on every time but if I am on for over 5 hours at a time then it boots me off. The only time this is a problem for me is when I am trying to download a large file. Otherwise I am happy with the service so far. I will post again if there are any problems.

NO, only smtp port 35 is blocked. All other ports are open. Also, the workaround for blocked port 25 for this ISP is: smtp.safepages.com0987

Right I was specifically thinking about Google mail when I asked the question. I have family set up with Gmail and this ISP price would be perfect for them, but I want them to be able to continue using Outlook Express. The description for this ISP says port 25 is blocked and their home page says they don't provide e-mail service to thwart spammers (but they provide webmail). I hate webmail. Are the SSL Gmail ports blocked? anybody know?

use: smtp.safepages.com -(for VTISP only)
as your smtp setting in Outlook Express - keeping port 25
instead of your usual smtp setting
use any pop3 setting for your e-mail
You can get Free e-mail at: www.swissinfo.org
or get www.gmail.com (Google)
or try port 26 (I do not think it is open for this ISP)
