Post  Title: Cancelling Juno Is A Nightmare

Juno was an excellent isp for the months I used it. No problems connecting, few unexpected disconnections and as fast as any I've used since 1999. (I used DUN instead of their software so I didn't see the ads) I had signed up for a promotional offer @ $6.95 per month with a 1 year commitment. I got DSL before the year was up and it was more economical to pay the $6.95 per month for the remaining months than it was to cancel and pay a termination fee.

I had heard that Juno - NetZero were very hard to cancel but I was optomistic when I called customer service. Of course, they, like many companies, outsource to call centers in India and I was connected to a very heavily accented, but polite, guy who listened to my request. Then the sales pitch kicked in... he tried to push Norton Security at me and I emphatically told him "NO"! He then told me that I would have 2 months free unlimited dialup as DSL backup just in case the DSL didn't work out. I asked him for a confirmation number which he promptly gave me. I thought "... this was relatively painless and I got the cancellation confirmation number with no problem". Imagine my surprise when the next day I receive an e-mail from Juno with the subject "Verification Of Juno Account Continuation". I didn't bother calling again but zipped out an e-mail to customer support explaining that I wanted to cancel the account, to which they replied: "Our records indicate that you have called on June 18, 2010 to cancel your account but were offered the Juno Turbo service, charged $4.95 per month with one free month of service. I'm sorry to hear that you still wish to cancel your Juno account. For security reasons, cancellations are not processed over email, instead, please call us toll-free at 1-888-811-5866."

I sent a reply to this e-mail in which I used a couple of <expletive deleted> words and voiced my displeasure at having to deal with people in a foreign call center who, apparently, didn't understand the words "no" and "cancel". I stated that I wasn't stupid and that I called to cancel dialup because I had DSL and certainly didn't agree to sign up for Turbo! Well... they made an exception to the no cancellation policy via e-mail because I received a reply which stated, "This is to confirm that your Juno Turbo service for <xxxxx (at) juno.com> has been cancelled as per your request...Currently only Juno MegaMail service is active on your account." I checked my credit card account and there have been no charges made so, hopefully, the cancellation nightmare is over.

A couple days later, I received an e-mail requesting that I, "fill out a brief survey regarding your most recent experience with Juno Support..." I gladly filled out the survey and included remarks about how they should hire Americans to deal with Americans and to let their current support people handle things in their own country. The survey stated that the comments were to be forwarded to management for their review, so maybe United Online will realize that not everyone is pleased with the way they do business.

BTW, "Starting on or after August 10, 2010, the standard Juno monthly subscription fee will increase by $1.00, from $9.95 to $10.95" so they no longer qualify as "cheap". Stay away from Juno and NetZero, they're both overpriced and are VERY difficult to cancel!

I have been with Juno for about a year and a half. They are the worst ISP I have ever used. I have the Platinum edition, which is supposed to be unlimited. However, I am kicked off regular. I contacted customer support and they advised me that the timed sign offs were a way of keeping my phone line from being tied up. I asked them if there was a way to turn off this option since it should be up to me if my phone line is being tied up (especially if I am paying for unlimited access). They told me no, that I had to live with it basically. I tried telling them that I couldn't download songs or any other decent sized file while I went and did other things. Their answer was to stay at the computer during downloads and just click on links. This is their customer support. When I tried to e-mail their support, I only received automated answers that did not answer the question. They send credit card offers, surveys, and other spam to my mailbox. They are directly from Juno, even after I opted out of receiving offers from them. They actually play TV commercials on your log in screen while you are waiting to be logged into Juno on this horrible little thing called JTV. They are not POP3 e-mail compatible. They have ads for fake Viagra and dating services mixed in with the news on their homepage. Their regular e-mail just *** to use. You cannot add photos to the actual mail except as an attachment. If mail is forwarded to you, than you have to open it over and over as many times as it was forwarded to get to you. I am sure I missed some complaints, but you get the idea. I am currently looking at other ISP's and will be switching soon.

Signed up for Juno service at end of Aug, quit instantly.
Only got 3 connexion phone numbers! As if S. Cal is some backwater.

The connexion speeds were conveniently not displayed--thus keeping secret the slow connexion speeds I seemed to be getting.

The deal breaker was that I could not seem to break free of Microsoft Outlook. I repeatedly wrote tech support, explaining that, as a Netscaper, I didn't want anything to do with MS crap. I asked them straight up, 'Does your service force me to use Outlook?' Oh, no Sir, they kept saying, and then suggested fixes that bore no relationship to the problem. After numerous e-mail exchanges, they finally admitted that I'd have to 'go through Outlook to get to Netscape.' Not bloody likely.

They had a guarantee that, if you could not get connected, you'd get a refund. Since I could not connect through Netscape, I considered that a failure. But didn't get the refund until 6 weeks later, after threatening to report the situation to the California Public Utilities Commission.

One last thing. The advert said I'd be billed for a year up front. Evidently they screwed that up, and billed me for only month.

I have used Juno since 1998. I am on dial-up. Will always be on dial up unless I go satellite, (best deal $40/mo + $500 set up). I'll take the $9.95. I also went for the hi-speed hype + $5, sometimes it almost seems to work.

Download manager: Asolutely, a five hour dnld took 3 reconnects, but I got it.

I have two vesions of Juno on my computer, Juno 4 build 9 and Juno 6 (v.?), I use both, seamlessly together. Surf with "6" and to check and weed out email. Dnld surviving email in one batch with "4," for reading and answering. "4's" text processor is simple and uncluttered and good for cleaning up html into simple text.

"Anyway, JUNO is a tool, and sometimes you have to learn to use the tool and work around some of its faults, which I have been able to do. I have used JUNO as my sole ISP for about 6 months now, and have been happy with it. Thanks for listening." (Quote from previous responder)

Absolutey! Juno is the worst, except for all the rest.

United Online Services, which is the parent company of the internet providors Juno, Net Zero, and Blue Light, is scamming people by offering "free internet." When I called to cancel my internet service, I was offered a "free two months of Juno service", becuase I told the man on the phone that my SBCGlobal account would not be set up for a few weeks. I didn't plan on using the internet during this time, but since he offered me the free two months, I accepted (thinking, what a nice company... I should have known not to trust any company, but I had received good service from Juno in the past.) Take note... Juno did NOT mention that a) I would later be charged for this two month free period and b) the account wasn't really cancelled.

I had moved to Indiana from VA in June, and therefore rarely check my bank account statements from VA. I did this month, and was shocked to see that I had been charged my Juno every single month... the account was never canceled! When I called to complain, I was told they could only refund the last two months, but I would be charged for July, August, September, and October. In addition, the woman chastised me and tried to make me feel stupid for thinking the free offer was free (even though that is what the man said in June.)

To make matters even worse -- when I explained my situation to the woman at customer service, she tried to offer me another "three month trial period...." when that is what got me in this mess, and she knew it!

I looked up their record on the Better Business Bureau website, and it seems that just about every complaint they have gotten in the past 12 months has been for the same issue -- people are offered "free service" when they call to cancel, and it isn't free at all.

Many innocent people are being scammed by this mega internet company. Although this has only cost me approximately $45, I feel abused by the company and know they are abusing many other people each day. Despite the fact that I was pretty pleased with my Juno dial-up service, I will NEVER subscribe to any of United Online's services again as a matter of principal.

Dito with Microsoft Outlook

It does not allow you to use either of the above.
This is another reason why many have considered leaving juno.

Thanks!

Juno advertises online that you can cancel their service via the internet, but that's not true. When you call to cancel they always try to sell you more service so beware of that also. After I had been transferred four times to cancel today I got a really interesting customer service agent. He interrupted me to say I had complained about a multitude of issues with them in the past(He's very right about that!) then he said"I can't hear you. I can't hear you. Are you there?"I had to call again to get it resolved. I hope that someone can read these reviews before it's too late. Juno has made me absolutely miserable.

I hate Juno, don't use their service! Save yourself from the agony of the constant freezing and disconnecting; the rude customer service; and the cut-and-paste unhelpful email responses to your technical questions. Leave it before it kills you.

I've used Juno for years. It is first rate and equal or better than any other dial-up ISP.

Post  Title: Juno should die

i just can't stand Juno anymore, the freaking thing keeps crashing and disconnecting my connection. The whole thing is a rip-off, and everyday, my connection becomes slower and slower. I first tried finding if i could solve my mutiple, and by multiple, i mean like 50, disconnections. Futhermore, the software is trully horrific, and never allows me to upgrade, so in the end, Juno is a complete waste of time and effort, and should be destroyed by any means neccesary. Though, as a warning, never get Juno, and i mean seriously, never.

Trudie if your coming here for help this is just a posting site. Again get a hold of Juno and let them know whats going on. I have heard that people that signed up with juno it took them a very long time to get it so a credit was on there account and it was cancelled. I suggest you do this ASAP and I would even confirm again a few days later. It was obviously not free as you found out.

Trudie, if you threw your computer out and the Juno info was on it...someone could be using your account and you are paying for their access.

To whom it concerns; May 23, 05
Back in March '05 I set out to try Juno since my sister said it was 'free' for 30 days and I tried to sign up, but for some reason Juno services never let us go on line or even get to use it. The next week, after trying to get on line with the services, we threw our old computer away and went out and bought another computer and went with AOL. I was billed for March, $9.95 and so I called the 1-888 number and the lady I talked to told me she would credit my charge card. Today I got my charge card statment and I had no credit for the $9.95 on it but I was charged $9.95 again for the services I've never used and had cancelled out last month with a phone call. I called Juno again today and the lady [Charolett] told me to e-mail you and that you will credit my charge card for the March payment and she told me that Aprils will be credit to my card this next month, for the $9.95 that I was billed for. I thought this service was FREE to start with and I should of never been billed to begin with! My referance # is 2338xxxx and she gave me a number of...02353xxxx said something about a e-mail confermation # I just want to be credit for the 2 months I've been charged for, since I've never was able to use the services and also cause it was FREE to begin with! Thank you for your help! Trudie Irving

Post  Title: Configuring Juno Megamail with Outlook Express

pjtroyer
Guest
My 88-year-old mom uses a Juno megamail account for e-mail but doesn't use the web much. I tried getting Outlook Express to work with Juno Megamail but it would only get messages and not send them.

If you have this problem this is what you need to do. (Now why couldn't JUNO have this information on THEIR website??)

Do as Juno instructs on their website for configuring a Juno account in Outlook Express. When you get to Outgoing Mail Server use:
authsmtp.juno.com

Presto! Outlook Express will both send and receive Juno Megamail.
(Note: you must sign up for a Megamail account first - $9.95 per year - in order to download Juno Webmail to your computer and work offline.)

I have been dealing with juno for 6 months, first a log on issue problem then a cancellation problem going all he way back to Dec 2004. Juno gave me 1/2 month free and then was going to cancel in Jan. I thought everything was ok
until I called my bank and did not recognize a $9.95 charge. The bank tells me Juno debited the amount, a flag went up so had the bank go back to Jan. Low and behold they have been charging the whole time, so I called and finallly after promps and several switches totaling about 10 minutes get a live person. This person tells me well you accepted the credited 1/2 month so we
reinstated your account, so that is why we continue to charge your bank account. Back in Nov and Dec I was accidently dropped from my calls to juno
during my quest to remedy my problems with them. How convienent when there is a problem to be fixed or monies to be credited, they are like a chess
game you are playing. But, if you want to ungrade they are easily accessable via the telephone. I was old 4/19/2005 I would only be credited for 2 months
billing, well I checked with bank and no credit. So, I called Juno and nothing
had been even noted as credit to be issued. This company should have a tail and ears Mickey at Disneyland where it is fun, but it does'nt it has Horns and a tail and I call it Purgatory, so go see Lucifer (aka Juno.com) " where everyone gets takin for ride"

i have used juno for ten years and finally got off my duff and found an isp that delivers and isn't interested in ad revenue. it's such a pleasure to surf the net without receiving "juno has encountered a techinal problem and must shutdown" or to be arbitrarily disconnected. their support *** too. speed factory works and is no frills.
