How did you find out about the 6 month period of $9.95. I haven't yet seen that confirmed.

Hello All,
In fairness to A4L, I just thought I'd update my post about not receiving an 'offical' notice from them. I did receive a notice today in my yahoo mail acct.. I sure hate it that they have sold out to earthlink...but I guess that's business. I too have nothing but praise for them..I just hope my new ISP will earn that also. Their connection speed is already somewhat slower than A4L. Also..they don't have as many local access numbers. Time will tell... Roll Eyes

Hi All,
It just goes to show that you NEVER know what's going to happen in this life...except of course that we are going to die. Wink I too was rather upset that A4L sold out to earthlink. But I guess that's business isn't it. I couldn't have been happier with A4L, but one thing I'm rather annoyed at them about is that at least so far...they haven't even notified me themselves about the changes. Thank goodness for freedomlist !! I've already opted out as they say..and chosen a new ISP. As I live in the eastern half of the US..I chose another ISP that isn't a national one but has 'unlimited' access time, and has a comparable monthly rate to A4L. So far though the connection speed is just a little slower than A4L. But since there isn't any long term commitment, if I use it for a while and don't like it..I'll change. Have a GREAT day..By the way the ISP I'm referring to is stowetel. Smile

Ah maaan.....Why didn't they just raise the price instead of ditching on us?! I loved this company. Would have been nice if they'd mentioned this to their members though...I just happened upon the info here. Sad either way though. Been with them for several years. Just recently re-upped too....so there goes my $12 set up fee....bye bye.

Although I would never spend $9.95 a month for dial-up, Earthlink is a good service and probably the best of the overpriced $10 ISPs. Still, there are a bunch of nice ones for under $6.

I experianced No problems with this service, It was wonderful, but then I get news from a friend I signed up that they had an email telling of the swtich to Earthlink, I didn't recieve email but yes, was confirmed by going to there site that it is true, Access4Less is Closing Dialup doors, and Shufffeling us to earthlink,. < actually I think we should of had the Choice first hand, to OPT IN not just to OPT OUT,.. but alas the9.95 rate is good but are we assured that it won't go up!!! I myself am going to check out a few other companies, but atleast we know Earthlink won't be going out of service anytime soon.

Funny how when I asked about this a week ago when Access4Free sister company went bye bye, the posting was deleted. Now it is official on the Accss4Less site. NO MAS.

When I signed up a page appeared with information such as the news server name, DNS IPs, and my registration number. I looked it over, copied some, and told IE to save that page. Instead, it downloaded and saved a blank form I'd never seen before.

Connection speeds were good, with no disconnects or fallbacks. However, downloads were as slow as I once experienced with my 28.8 modem. This was because of frequent stalls up to 30 seconds. It happened with various websites, newsgroups, and email. It happened at all hours. I determined that the cause was not modems retraining.

Tech support asked a series of questions about my modem connection. When I answered, they sent my message back as quoted text with no comment. When I asked again, they said they had reset the server account but my speed would not improve.

Whatever they did, that fixed the problem for a few days. Now it's back. I get stalls and remote servers abort my downloads. All along my localnet account has worked fine, so I've dropped access4less. I hope they quit billing me!

STILL satisfied with A4L. The pop mail still doesn't function properly, but the online access is dependable. It seems that connection speeds are lowering, though. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Post  Title: Cancellation

Guest

Did anyone have trouble cancelling this service. I sent emails to them almost a week ago and no response so far. The phone they have is for sale only and they only deal with billing issues over emails or fax. What kind of company doing business like that?

The connection is good though but well, dial-up is like a 10 yrs old technology. Any ISP still in dial-up must provide good connections. It's time for me to leave dial up. I'm getting SBC $19.95/mon deal now.

The above quote is the response I got for a complaint I made, that the email system hangs during "authorization" phase. I found the response uncalled for. I don't need to be reminded, in quotes or not, to laugh at myself when a service I have been paying for over 4 years causes me problems.

The ISP isn't bad overall, and it isn't great. It rarely cuts off a connection, but often times out during busy hours. The email problem is okay today.

Mad

I have used this service (Access4Less/Joi/aaahawk -- they have many names) since 2002, and had few problems, other than occasional busy signals.

BUT Since 3/25/05 I have been dealing with a billing issue and have gotten a HUGE run-around. Nobody knows anything and then they transfer you to someone who says I should have never been transfered to them in the first place. Supposedly there are no billing supervisors to talk to. You have to send emails or faxes which for the last 9 days I have only gotten one response to, and the problem still hasn't been fixed.

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY PROVIDE IS TERRIBLE!!!

I live outside of Dallas TX. Dial up always connects, but soemtines you cannot get any web connections (busy servers??). For several weeks I have tried to contact them to change the credit card that is used for billing. No answer from their e-mail or the "Contact Us" option. Maybe, noone is at the office. This may be an OK solution as a back-up ISP but I am seeking someone else to be my primary. This sevice is just not reliable enough.
