I signed up with juno ages ago, back when they were a free ISP. I can still connect for free.
It's kind of buggy. It hangs when it tries to get the ads, and doesn't let me move the ad window until it loads the ads (which it never does), but otherwise it works fine. I wouldn't use it all the time, but it's great to have in emergencies.

Title: Juno Fraud
|
|
Griffin Guest
We have Comcast HighSpeed Internet (love it), a number of email accounts through them, and an additional number of free email accounts through Google mail (love it as well). The other day, Juno.com charged us $9.95 for signing up for their service!?!? I wouldn't consider signing up for crappy email service with so many fine options available but they claimed that we did. Our bank is fighting it out with them right now as their customer support representative was very rude over the phone. Don't deal with people like that! Stay away from Juno!!

I would first pick a good e-mail service that allows you to do exactly what you want to do, THEN I would get a nice cheap ISP and not use their e-mail. That way you can change ISPs when you find a better choicewithout changing your e-mail address. If it is available in your area, VTISP works well for $3.95 a month and Protelnetwork has been nice and it is FREE!. If you want a good service ISP, www.poetworld.net can't be beat for $7.95. I have had over 20 ISPs (started with Juno) and the above ones have proven reliable. You will not have any software slowing your system and you can use DUN already in your computer. If you need help, post on the forums and you will be taken through the steps.

Title: Tech Service Nonexistent
|
|
katie Guest
Juno is somewhat convenient, especially because you don't have to be online to view & write e-mail. But their technical support is probably the worst I've ever encountered, and their mail limits are impossible to understand. I am frequently cut off from mailing, even though I have not reached anywhere near the 250/day limit on legitimate user-requested emails. There is no one to ask unless you want to pay 1.95/minute.
I am now looking for a low-priced isp with a good email service that does not jerk me around the way juno does. I send medium sized e-mail lists (about 250-500) about 4 times a year. Juno makes me break these up into under 50 names/each, and also cuts me off well before the limit for no reason. Does anyone have an idea of a decent service that is more convenient?

Title: Juno as an ISP...
|
|
rdilleym Guest
We switched to Juno from earthlink over 5 years ago...primarily for
the price. Using Juno 5.0, Premium, at 9.95 a month, it can't be beat.
We have had absolutely no problems.....the good thing about it is you
do not have to be online to read and write email...for us, that's a good
thing with only one phone line. Some people say it's slow getting on
line?? Can't believe that....you can usually count to 8 or 10 and you are
connected...and rarely I mean RARELY do we get off while surfing, such
as most of those other high-priced ISPs do....
Only reason we would switch from Juno is if they went out of business!!
Just my opinion/comments...thank you.

I tried to cancel again and again was offered another month free with free tech support. I still experienced the same frustration. I finally cancelled out and now I am billed $48.75 for this tech support. Now I really am annoyed at Juno.

You can't cancel here as this is just a listing of ISPs. You need to contact Juno at their site.

MRTHUNDER211 Guest
DEAR SIRS,
I SET UP THIS ACCOUNT IN THE FIRST PART OF SEPT. 04. I ALSO CANCILED THIS ACCOUNT SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH. AFTER REVIEWING MY BANK STATEMENTS FOR THE LAST FIVE MONTHS I SEE THAT I'VE BEEN BEING BILLED EVERY MONTH SINCE. I CALLED TODAY AND RE-CANCILED AGAIN TODAY, JAN.19TH, O5.
IF YOU WILL CK THE ACCOUNT, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE ACCOUNT HAS NOT BEEN ACCESED SINCE THE FIRST PART OF SEOT. 04. I KNOW THAT THE FIRST MONTH, THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE A $59.80 PLACED BACK INTO MY CK ACCOUNT THAT YOU'VE BEEN BILLING.
PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT mrthunder242 -- comcast.net to let me know your decission.

Title: dropping Juno
|
|
technicium Guest
It suddenly loses its tenuous grip on the 'net every once in a while and i have to try again; this is annoying when I am playing timed games of chess! Also, I got a message saying someone else was using my juno e-mail account and I wondered if this meant if i had been hacked. Juno gave me ~5 canned responces, none of which had anything to do with my "have I been hacked?" question, so at this point I have had enough.
I wouldn't recommend Juno to anyone.

Title: Juno isn't bad, but IE sux
|
|
SM Guest
I have been using Juno for I forgot how long. I haven't had a single problem. Even when upgrading to Windows XP from my old OS, it had no problem updating except for having to update to the Windows NT stuff.
But I've noticed bugs in the older builds, so update to 5. (I've heard of 6, but never saw it on the Juno site.)
All I say is don't use Juno email. 2 MB of space and no spam filters are not exactly perfect things for email. Use Yahoo! email or some other email service. Yahoo! email has 100 MB of space and great spam filters.
How can you configure Juno to use Firefox? Juno's browser (IE) is unreliable.

I've been with Juno Platinum for a year now and haven't had any major problems. The e-mail is terrible so I don't use it . I use yahoo it's easier and don't have the possibility of getting a virius downloaded to my computer. Haven't had to use tech support so I can't comment on them.

Title: Re: Outlook Express/Microsoft Outlook
|
|
Guest
I have used Juno for about 5 years and would not think of switching. It's cheap and reliable. It gets me on the web, and then I switch to other programs to surf.
Once I connect to the web, I click on Internet Explorer and use that for my browser. I don't like the Juno browser, so I don't use it. With Internet Explorer you get the entire page on your screen without other stuff blocking part of it.
I do not use Juno email, either. I prefer an email address that I can keep if I do ever switch ISP's, and I need an email box that I can access from any computer anywhere.
Here's what I do with email. My first preference is Yahoo. I travel a lot and I can get my email anywhere in the world. Yahoo is web-based and will not download into your computer.
I also have Incredimail, which is downloaded into your computer, works similar to Outlook Express - use this if you want your email downloaded so you work with it offline. I use this for sending animations, background music, etc. To use Incredimail you also have to have an email address with a pop service, so I use hotmail for this. So - I can either download the hotmail into my own computer (via incredimail), or I can access hotmail via the web. I just love incredimail for fun mail.
If you need any help, just send me a note and I'll help you set up any of the above.
AND ALL OF THESE EMAIL SERVICES ARE FREE!!!

Dito with Microsoft Outlook
It does not allow you to use either of the above.
This is another reason why many have considered leaving juno.
Thanks! |
I don't think there is anyway, as it is not a POP service.
I tried to use IMAP, which also fails. |

What were you doing for the whole year that you didn't notice they were still charging you. You should always check your credit card account to make sure there is nothing funny going on.
