I have been using gobigwest for some time and have had no problems.
The free phone support is great.
The Free Callwave thing appeared in an email from their president Jeff Kolyn. I don't think it is mentioned in the features.
Does anybody know in what area their DSL is offered?

Title: 150hrs limit explained
|
Let me clarify why GoBigWest limits you to 150hrs, which is actually not a limit since there is a really easy work around to reset those hours to 0.
In order to provide such a low cost for internet service, we are obliged to cap a customer to 150 hours per month. This is due to the fact that our phone line providers charge us when a user goes over 150hrs. At $5.95/mo, this is just not possible for us.
But there is hope! All you have to do is change your dial-up username (your email address will stay the same) and you are back to 0 hours. You can even check how many hours you have use at any moment by login in to your account. So if you look at it this way, there is no limit.
Hope this helped,
Frank

I've been a customer for almost a half year and I've found them to be a good solid ISP. I was with Fry's ISP (also very good)but at $4 more per month, so this is a value. Calls to customer service have long hold times compared to others I've tried but as they have returned my calls when I left a message that's no big problem.

so, when I complained that I had not been able to make the service work, they were VERY kind and polite, and made no charge to my account.

please not that there IS a setup fee....$5.
And then I could not use many of the features of the email, including not being able to write an email message! Am going to ask for my money back so we will see how the customer service is.

Title: terms of service
|
|
Guest
I'm not sure who wrote the previous posts saying it's great but I do not like their terms of service and will not signup for this. Didn't even have to signup to figure out I don't like that service.
Looks like the blue suit lawyers will hang you by a rope if:
------------------------------------------------------
All credit cards will be charged automatically for each billing period. If you dispute a valid credit card charge levied by the Company, your account with the Company will be disabled and you will be charged a $40.00 service fee.
------------------------------------------
If you violate this spamming policy, you will be assessed the following fines and penalties, which you hereby agree to pay:
20(a). First offense: $100.0
20(b). Second offense: $500.00
20(c). Third offense: $500.00 and automatic termination of your account.
--------------------------
The Company's current hourly rate for Postmaster responses to complaints and cleanup of unsolicited commercial mailings and/or unauthorized bulk mailings and/or news server violations is US $100 per hour, with a minimum one (1) hour charge, plus US $1 for each bulk-email or Usenet message sent, plus US $1 per complaint received. These rates are subject to change at any time without notification.
-----------------------------------------------------
25. In the event you want to cancel the Service, you must notify the Company in writing thirty (30) days prior to such cancellation. This notice must either be faxed or mailed to the Company or otherwise delivered in accordance with the Company’s policies.
-------------------------------------------
Yeah right! Signup at your own risk!

Title: not free month. Now $10 setup fee
|
|
goveggie Guest
I just went to their web site because of the previous posts saying the first month is free.
But now it's not free the first month and they even added a $10 setup fee!
So what is that about? Too many low life bottom of the barrell scraping people trying out their first month for free or what??

lazz Guest
I have been using gobigwest for about three weeks..
So far I have not had any problems..the connections have been quick.
I usually connect between 50666,52000 and a few times at 53333.
I have used there web mail without any problem.
They also send you emails about their service and about how to set up
your email so you dont get spam..also the first month is free.

Have had several ISP's from $21 to free. I like GoBigWest because they are very friendly and helpful on your calls 24/7. There has been no drop off's when connecting to links. There has been no drop off's when I have been idle for quiet some time. They say "try me FREE for 30 days", if you like your service, give me $5.95 a month. If you dont, the month is free and cost you nothing. What have you got to loose? I kept my other ISP connection during the trial period, Just in case. But was happy to switch, Thanks GoBigWest for your customer friendly organization.

Questions Guest
Just to clarify, is their Tech Help free for both phone call and e-mail support?
Is the phone number for Tech Help a Toll Free call?
Is there any charge if you go over the 150 hours/month limit?
Is there any cancellation fee?
