Title: intergate is completely messed up
|
I have used Intergate for several years with what sounds like the usual minor problems, getting kicked off after various periods of time, they "forgot" my password a couple times, things like that.
A while back they came up with the Upgrade, a new Spam Box. Of course there was an extra charge each month for this. Never mind the sign in page promised then and still does Free Junk Mail Filtering. They moved the original functions (Whitelist & Blacklist) to the Spam Box and left us without any spam filtering unless we paid extra. After arguing for some time that I paid for this function as they advertised and expected a reduction in my monthly charge unless I got the Spam Box they acquiesced and turned it on for me.
Now the final outrage has occurred. I tried to sign in, couldn't using 3 different phone numbers and called them. They said my password was one I used when I first bought their service. I finally convinced the c/s person that I had been using another password for a couple years and I was told they had reset it for me. I sign in and all my emails have disappeared including everything I had saved in many Folders, the Folders also. It was like I was a new customer.
I complained and was told tough luck there was nothing they could do but I could have a free month service. Oh, and the person that did this - against company rules - would be disciplined.
I complained further to the President with the same brush off. I was told they backup everything every day but it was not possible to restore the deleted emails from my Mailbox. When I asked him why it was possible a few months ago to restore some emails they had lost but not now I didn't get an answer. Every $59 backup program I've seen gives you the choice of restoring a single file or complete operating system. I guess their software isn't that sophisticated.
Again my Spam Box is turned off. But my charge has not been reduced. Maybe el Hefe isn't worried about a complaint to the FTC about false advertising.

In regard to Intergate;
I have been with them since 1-16-04
and never had a single problem with " unlimited " use restrictions or
email problems ( virus ) ,cust. support issues, label on explorer,
news groups, or suspension......zip......none ( . )
NOTE: been on line all day & night ... all day the next day
every day on for hours.... no problems..!
I have been very happy to be with a company like this one.
Had people PC. did not care for them at all....cust support was good..
but when you want to cancel they will give you free months of service
anything to keep you with them. Just did not care for their
" smart dialer, and the like "
I do not work for them , but highly recommend them...
Hehh....totally shocked when I read the descriptions from the others
here....
Wiz.....

I did the yearly payment twice my bill was $130.00 something I would have to look back in my checkbook.Should I be getting a refund?
name and phone number removed by plodr. Why ask in a REVIEW if you should be getting a refund? Ask the ISP not Freedomlist.

Beware! Their "punishment" far exceeds the "crime". My crime? Possibly for using their newsgroups which they must've considered excessive but which was only used as a backup for my subscribed usenet provider. An e-mail warning would have been most appreciated but I was kicked off and denied access without warning or reason.
I didn't call support to find the reason or lenght of my suspension but, instead, cancelled my account on their website (accessed via NetZero free account.) BTW, I had only been a subscriber for about 2 weeks.
My opinion, stay away from this service and their facist/nazi/dictator like interpretation of their TOS with their no warning punishment. You might expect this from a teacher in middle-school who caught you chatting instead of doing research but from a national ISP for using their provided resources - unforgivable!!!!

Grrrrr!!! This service provider is only good if your definition of "unlimited" is the same as their definition of "unlimited". My definition would be: UNLIMITED IS UNLIMITED! But wait, I did a very, very stupid thing - I clicked and clicked and paid and paid but did NOT read the terms and conditions - never dawned on me that "unlimited" would have any other definition other than UNLIMITED!!!! I paid in advance for a year, h*ll, I had to buy a second account for my other computer which I only use off and on, when my Dad and I both happen to be online at the same time - which wasn't often (never had to do that with my other ISP - oh, and they know the definition of "unlimited" is just that - UNLIMITED). Anyway, I was eBaying away today and I left my computer for 10 minutes and come back and what is this??!!!?? I can't get to my email! I can't get online! Okay, reset all the stupid settings. Still doesn't work. Luckily, I still have time on my old ISP (I've only had "unlimited" access to Intergate for a couple months - tops) so I punch those settings in and get right online. Now I'm confused. I call Intergate, they can't find my main account that I use daily. Finally do, and proceed to say it has been "Suspended". "Pardon Me?!? I paid a year in advance!?"; I say to the young lady on the other end. "Let me see, oh your account has been suspended for excessive activity" or something thing like that. After screwing around trying to find it (and finally reading the user agreement) I found that I did in fact, violate the agreement because my definition of "unlimited" was incorrect (at least according to Intergate it is). I had been doing something I never knew existed - I was "parking" on the line, using up valuable resources someone else who doesn't know the definition of "unlimited" could be using. Silly me.
No, I don't get a refund for the unused months on the suspended account. (About 10 of them - wait - that would mean it really was "unlimited" ) No, I don't get a refund for the unused months on the second - "active account" (about 11 of them) - which would soon be suspended anyway cause I still don't get this definition thing. And yes, I did cancel it anyway because I don't want to do business with any company that hides their terms of use in convoluted definitions to screw the non "user agreement reader" (such as myself). Do I feel better? Hell no.
That is nothing short of false, misleading, crummy advertising. Do I recommend this ISP? There is nothing wrong with having limits - but they should be UP FRONT - not hidden in twisted definitions that any normal person would find laughable. All I can say now is "I'm sorry Cassnet, I almost left the nest, but have learned. I will be a good interneter and stay where I belong - with people who do what they say and charge a fair price for it - no games, no BS. I fell for the low price, but I'm home to stay. Long live Cassnet! (DSL would be nice though). That's it I think.

have had this ISP for over a year and all i can say is RUN for the hills! if u call customer service, you hold until your next birthday - to only greeted by the voice that states 'leave a message'. CONTINUAL server breakdowns, sometimes lasting many hours. have had to on three (3) occasions have them totally reset my user name and password because their system dropped it somehow.

Title: Suspended for "excessive use"
|
|
kokopelli Guest
I've been with InterGate since October 1, 2003. One of the reasons, apart from the price, I signed up was the promise that I would really get unlimited access. I even emailed before I signed up to clear this up and get confirmation, because I use the internet a lot as I work from home. I didn't expect an "always on" connection but made it clear that I spend many hours online, most days. I received confirmation that this was indeed the case and my online hours would not be metered.
For most of the 14+ months I was with InterGate, this was indeed the case. I occasionally got bumped off, but then just dialled in again. Speeds were so-so, but probably not different than any other dial-up ISP. I never used their email, only SMTP for outgoing emails. All-in all, I was reasonably satisfied and accepted that you "get what you pay for".
I did speak to their customer support on a number of occasions when I was unable to dial up, but that was resolved fairly quickly - a few times this was due to my DUN settings becoming corrupt. I also emailed them about getting credit because I was still getting billed $10/month, even after they reduced their fee to $9.95, but never got a reply.
About a month ago I was given a new access number and everything worked smoothly, until this morning when I was unable to dial up. I called customer support and was told by a very snappy young lady that my user account has been suspended for 7 days due to excessive use. I explained to her that I had been a customer for more than a year and have never experienced this problem, and that it had been one of the conditions on which I signed up. I also tried to explain to her that I require immediate internet access because I work from home. She wasn't prepared to listen and just rattled off the terms of service "small print" about no unmetered use etc. etc.
So I cancelled and used a WalMart ISP free trial to get online. <Sigh> I guess the search for an ISP that really means it when they promise unlimited access continues ...

Title: credit card payments to this isp
|
|
Be aware that this company, once it has your credit card number, will automatically renew your service, and charge your card even though you didn't authorize either the charge or renewal. If you expect a full credit on your card, even though you didn't use their service (or authorize charge or renew service), you're out of luck. To paraphrase their response "we automatically renew once we have your credit card number".

Intergate's homepage has been down over 5 days. I can receive email but cannot send. This is ruining my volunteer efforts I do on line. Does anyone have an 800 number for INTERGATE? I wanted to change dial up numbers but without the homepage I have no way to find new access numbers. INTERGATE...are you dead? Shall I move to another service provider? I think 5 days is more than enough time for me to hang in there waiting. Since I am receiving, why not send your customers a status report of what the heck is going on. Tomorrow I am changing...I have over 20 emails in my outbox going no where.

you are probably exceding your allowed hours per month. Try and isp that will allow you to camp out! Good Luck! Not and intergate associate or employee by the way.

Also, people, be aware that they can disconnect you at any time as a punishment. They do it if you connected to the internet and not doing anything. They do not even bother themselves to let you know about their decision. So one day you can find that you cannot use the service you paid for. They disconnected me for a few days as a punishment.
Just guess if I am going to use them again?

have used these folks 4 many months, and EVERY month something seems to happen! their WEBmail servers crash - especially unsettling if using one at the close of an eBay sale!!- with log-ins virtually impossible. must admit, calls get an ACTUAL person at the other end....but the support info given may vary from accurate to guesswork on the rep's part. formatting/options for Webmail accounts is nerve-wracking at best. if there's a prob at THEIR end on the weekend?.....do something else, because support isn't there. am actively searching for a new ISP right now....would NOT recommend these folks - even if KimKomando does!
