PWACCESS service went down the p00p as well, as the last 4-5 months usage of their service in late 2007 went to crap due to their continuous LOUSY timeouts and disconnects.

Not to mention they cut my monthly usage hours down to something like 250 without even notifying me of this. I actually had to ask them what my hours were last year in 2007, as I had an idea that is why I was always getting "timed out" and disconnected all the time if I even left my cmptr idle for 10 minutes!

I was getting unlimited 24/7 with them for $10 a month when I first started out with them some 4-5+ years ago, and that was dropped down to like 400 or 450 about 2 years later, and since then - over a 3-4 year period - they shrunk me down to that 250 hour lousy service. I can't deal with no 250 hours a month, or less then 10 hours a day. I'm emailing and Google searching 12+ hours a day MINIMUM!!

Because I'm stuck using this LINUX Red Hat version OS at present I can't get DSL where I'm at as that lousy AT&T won't support me! AT&T *** as well in CA folks! Let's face it - they are just MONEY driven is all - the service part is long gone since they bought out SBC! What I just said!!!!

Continuing -

Not to mention their PWACCESS lousy degraded dial-up bandwidth which shrunk from a pretty consistent 49.333, and sometimes 50.667, down to 46.667 like I'm now also getting with other lousy 56k dialup ISP's as well.

You can't do anything at 46.667 - believe me folks! Slow as hell.....

Anyway - I gave PWACCESS the axe in very late 2007, as I had enough of the p00p & lies from their owner - some Will MacHugh - as well as their tech support people there always saying this and that, and they had made such great improvements to their ISP service - when in reality all they did is cut my monthly hours from that initial unlimited down to 250 hours! That's the truth folks! No BS at all here!

They even tried to be an a** about giving me a credit for the last 2 months of lousy TIMED OUT service, but my Credit Union people through which my Visa Credit Card is through WOULD HAVE NONE OF IT! Thank God for that! They are by far one of the largest CU's in the USA - if not the biggest!!!!!!!!!

Pays to fly with Eagles (as to Credit Unions that is) unlike trying to fly with ISP services the likes of a TURKEY like with PWACCESS! Enough said there...

Use PWACCESS at your own risk - but you've been warned here and now!

Jim...

As I stated in the post on the forums, it is working just a simple problem with cookies and how Internet Explorer interprets them. Firefox does work fine.

You can do it one of two ways... Either go to Internet Options, privacy tab followed by sliding the bar down to low.

Or go directly here:

I was usingFlxtek until they shut down yesterday. I decided to return to PWAccess. I am glad I did. The service is still as good as it used to be. I haven't had aby trouble with them then and no trouble with them now. The e-mail is out until 12:00 pm west coast time. That don't bother me to much.
I did notice something funny with pwaccess that maybe Steve could help with. On the mainpwaccess web page i click on the my account icon I enter my user name(address) and password it starts to go through and nothing. The sign in screen comes back. This happens in IE7 but I could get to my account when i use Firefox 2.0

Besides that glitch PWAccess is a new keeper for me.

All I could say to the staff at PWAccess is to keep doing what your doing..It's a great service

Thanks Jim

Post  Title: New service, new problems

Rich

They're just migrating to the new networks, so I'll give them a bit of time. So far, the newsgroups aren't working for days, the tech support doesn't know why, there are fewer access numbers and the links to help on their homepage are broke. All access is now limited to 300 hours, so freedomlist needs to change the listing from "unlimited." On the bright side I'm still getting around 50k connections with rural phone lines. To summarize it has gone from "highly recommended" to "tentatively not recommended" on my list. If things don't get fixed, I'll be on a new service by April.

Post  Title: New ownership New networks If it ain't broke, brea

Rich

Rich: just received this in an email:

Howdy,

My name is Will MacHugh and I'm the new owner of PWAccess. I just wanted to write everybody and introduce myself and give you an idea of what to expect as we take over PWAccess.

The first thing we will be doing is migrating the PWAccess mail over to our new, state of the art mail servers. We use servers provided by Vircom with the new SCA engine for anti-spam and anti-virus. We have several thousand email accounts running on these servers and we catch over 100,000 spam messages a day. I'm sure you will be pleased with the results.

The second thing we will be doing is migrating networks. Currently, you are using a number of networks including Aleron, Megapop and a couple of others. We will be migrating to Level3 and ICG. These networks are known for high reliability and performance. These networks cost us a little more money to work with, but the quality is much higher and it will bring our cost of support down.

The third thing is that we will be migrating billing servers. This will allow you to easily access your account, review and change your account details, and add additional billing flexibility including taking electronic checks.

At any rate, there will be more details to come in the following weeks. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know you're in for some real improvements.

If you have any comments or questions, please direct them to .

Thanks,

Will MacHugh

Still working very well for me, 50k connections with poor rural phone lines. I'm using the 200 hr/month network (can't remember designation) which may be the difference.

PWA, what happened?? I switched from Joi to you because I reasd the reviews right in this site and thought I was maing the right decission....
I sent this mail to customer service at pwaccess.com and, after 2 weeks, I have yet to receive a single reply:

------------------
Hello:
I was a very satisfied new customer all the way up to a month ago, when
my connection problems started.
I haven't changed anything in my computer this whole time... I've always
had the same v.92 modem and I've always connected to either the
404-214-220 or the 678-931-1601 phone lines.

As i said, since I took your service and up to almost a month ago, I
always connected at 49.2 kbps on my first try... didn't mind not getting
52k, I was happy with those 49. But now, getting 49.2 kbps is a
miracle!!! I always get around 42 to 44 kbps on my first try, and I have
to try almost 6 times before i can get a 49.2 kbps... worst of all,
sometimes during tries I get even only 28.8 k.

so, what's wrong with your servers? do you have too many clients
connectd to the same server? because I notice that when I log around 4
AM is not so hard to get the 49.2 k, but during daytime or regular
nighttime is almost impossible.

please give me a prompt solution for this... I gave up on Joiintrenet to
take on your company, but if your service keeps on being insatisfactory,
I'll have to switch back to them.

thanks

----------------------

I know the owner of PWA used to post here, so please, next time don't make me contact you this way again and make sure you have the right personnel to reply your customers' mails. If I don't get a satisfactory reply to this, I'm switching back to Joi as soon as you can say 'Hey.

I've been on about 2 weeks now, so far so good. Fairly responsive tech support, plenty of access numbers, good connections (50666k right now), and they know (unlike a lot of other providers) which access number goes with which network. Better connections (particularly POP mail) than I had from my previous provider fo $4/month less.

I was wondering is PWACCESS going to have any trouble like Poetworld did during the changeover in December?

If you could email me, and let me know the name of the rep you spoke with, I would be glad to give them a piece of my mind :).

We have had some problems with the customer service I have with PWAccess, as it is not in house with Poetworld, but all of this will be evaluated at years end in December, when our contract is up with them.

I signed up with PWA for several reasons (price, availability, the reviews here). For the most part I think the service itself is great, but the customer service is absolutely horrible. From day one I haven't been able to access the news server and the tech support guys have not only been rude, they've been absolutely no help at all.

I will give the service kudos on price, speed, availability, and simplicity of signing up, just don't expect help when you need it.

I used poetworld and then signed up with pwaccess. I only changed because I wanted unlimited service for playing my Playstation 2 on line. I think Steve has done an excellent job with these 2 isp's. If your looking for a great service you have 2 choices.

I just signed up last night after dumping Access4cheap. Did eveything online with a credit card. Once the transaction was complete, I was presented with a page that had all the phone numbers, mail server, and ftp information. I had everything configured on my pc and connected in a half hour. Connected at 50.6k and surfing away. So far I like what I see and still think its a good deal at $9.95 a month. I will report back after a month or so. Aint paying $20+ a month any more.

Post  Title: UU Net?

Aim High
Guest
So UU Net is faster and better than Qwest? I've heard many good things about QWest, but little about UU? Can you expand, please on the UU net? Is it REALLY that much better than Qwest? I am also interested in this ISP, as I've been looking at PW and Peoplestar. If this one is as good as all the reviews from PW, it should be THE one. Anymore comments about PWAccess? Sounds like you initial problems are corrected now, but will most clients have the same problems that you have if the help is not as clear as it should be?

Tim and I just talked via email, and I have resolved the problem with him I think :). Thats always open to discussion however.

I just wanted to answer your questions here publicly so we could say case closed.

You say you are having webspace issues. This webspace works, I was able to just test it. Its not that a webpage is automatically created for you or something, this is FTP space. Of course, it is going to say website not found because you have not placed anything there yet. Once you place something by uploading a page, then it will work. For instance... I just went and placed the file index.htm or the PWAccess homepage on your site, so go to members.pwaccess.com/tlf1952@pwaccess.com and whalaa, everything works. Of course, you could replace pwaccess.com with safepages.com and the same thing occurs, it works. It was just a little lack of communication, something which I will try to fix in a future update of the website for webspace help.

Also, I am going to work to make the email page a little more personalized so that instead of yourdomain.com you can see exactly what you are doing. I was able to successfully setup outlook express, without reading the setup instructions, using just general configurations I do everyday, so where the slip up happened, I do not know. I consider this my fault though, and will work to make sure this does not happen again.

Post  Title: Thanks for the comments, and...

PWAccess
Guest
I just wanted to let everyone know who looks at these comments that we say it plainly on our website what surf has mentioned here... Check out  www.pwaccess.com/service.htm

We do have 4 major networks, but they are limited... Star and Aleron/Telia, are unlimited, however, qwest and uunet are not. In many metro areas across the west we have what we call a cross coverage system. You will see some numbers listed with all 4 networks for access. These we dub super dialup locations. So if you are concerned on the west about going over your hours and you use one of the limited networks, check to see if a super dialup number is available to you.

PWAccess is our premium provider, with Poetworld being the economy plan at this time. The major differences are the ability to dialup almost anywhere around the nation with over 8000 numbers to choose from, including canada. PWAccess also has newsgroups, and webspace, something you will not find with Poetworld.

Post  Title: ITS NOT UNLIMITED PEOPLE,

surf_03
Guest
IT IN YOUR CHOICE IN THE ACCESS NUMBERS.
Your access numbers are what limits or does not limit your time not the ISP pwaccess.

For example: uu phone number allows 150 hours. Is this unlimited? I don't think so. It was a choice I made.
In my city, there were also a listing of access numbers with unlimited hours. I wanted uu net for faster and better service(which Poetworld does not offer). The last ISP provider only charge $7.50 a month for uu net. So its not worth the nickel and diming for the sake of a simple dial-up because the next leap is DSL.

PoetWorld does not give you the choice because they utilize only access numbers with 200 hour limits*.

*All numbers across the US (excluding California) are limited to 200 hours of access per month. All accounts hitting 200 hours will have their accounts shut off for the remaining days in the calendar month until the 1st, at which time the count resets. California users have unlimited hours across their state to any number we list.

This isp is owned by the Poetworld people which has plenty of positive comments about it. PWAccess is their unlimited service, whereas poetworld is 200 hrs. a month.
