Post  Title: more on e-mail

psadek

Interesting: Since requesting the termination of my 650Dialup account, I have received several offers of help from both their billing and tech support departments.

Unfortunately, the first note from technical support arrived a couple of days too late. The best that they could suggest was to check the settings on my e-mail client. I responded that my settings were correct, and the simple fact that it worked PART of the time was ample evidence of correct settings on my end. Their response? Check your settings again. Does anyone wonder why I cancelled?

By way of contrast, I signed up for Intergate on Saturday night. By Sunday noon, I had *already* received THREE responses to questions from their tech support department, one posted at 4 a.m.

I have switched to Intergate, and have requested that my 650Dialup account be discontinued at the end of the current one-month term. I received a very nice note from 650Dialup asking for the opportunity to have their tech support manager call me on the phone, with an eye toward keeping me as a customer. But as I told them, I am in the midst of seeking a change in career and location, and it's anyone's guess as to how many e-mails--in both directions--have been lost in five days.

I told them that I would still be curious as to what the problem was. I'll let you know if I find out.

Post  Title: 650Dialup e-mail

I've been on 650Dialup since Monday, and I'm sorry, but I find their e-mail to be VERY unreliable. Intermittently, the following happen...

bad username/password error
improper protocol error
intended recipient rejected by smtp server
messages sent out but never received
messages which were sent to me from others, but never delivered to me

Yesterday, I switched about TEN Yahoo groups (most with modest daily traffic) to my 650Dialup.com e-mail address. This morning, I had NO e-mail waiting for me. Something is wrong here; and so far, I have received no response to my e-mail inquiries to them.

I need reliable e-mail; and so far, 650dialup has been unable to provide it.

I'm an IVWNET refugee, and I had to find something fast. So far, 650dialup has been *pretty* good, although I have found their mail server to be a bit funky, intermittently rejecting my correct password, username, or intended RECIPIENT of my e-mail, and dropping some things which I know I should have received. I hope this clears up soon: I need reliability in my e-mail.

Otherwise, the connection is good, and everything else seems to work fine.

Post  Title: Consequences of a "Fresh Account?"

Jann
Guest
Sorry, but I do not understand what you mean by "fresh account." Does a fresh account mean an additional account with an additional monthly charge? Or, is a "fresh account" just the company's internal way of allowing users to exceed the 200hrs time limit and the user normally does not know this action has taken place?

Is there a limit to the number of "fresh accounts" a user can get in a month? I am a very heavy internet user. I am considering 650Dialup. Should I stop considering them?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

well, 650dialup gives me an extra account if in case i exceed my usage limit. all ISPs have this network provider that gives virtually unlimited hours, around 200 hrs. so I still get unlimited service from 650.

Post  Title: 650- sneaky punks!

Guest

I'd been using 650 for months without any problems until this month- they disconnected my service Sun April 20- called the next day and I was told I'd used all my hours for the month. I reminded them it was unlimited service, it's advertised as unlimited, and there was nothing in the agreement about so many hours per month. Apparently, they researched how long the "average" user is online, and decided that a 100 hour/month allowance was enough for their customers...without notifiying us, or anyone else i know that uses 650. If you don't use the internet often, 650 could be a great choice...but if you/your family accesses the internet for more than 3 hours per day, I do NOT reccommend this ISP.

I can not understand what and why you are getting these messages. Did you ever try and call support to see what these were from and how to correct. I would give that a try maybe it's something how you have it set up. It took only one minute to set up configuration for me and not one instance of error or problem came up. Good Luck

At first it seemed kinda good, but trying to get their configuations to Actually work is a lot of trial and lots of error. What works one time may not the next.
Getting online is another story in itself getting messages like banned for bad useage, cannot connect, error with my modem (gee that is funny, AOL and Walmart Connect gets online fine). I don't think it is all it is cracked up to being, would I get again? Not!

650DialUp will block your access from other cities if you travel, unless you email them. The response time is counted in days. I emailed them Monday afternoon and did not get the response until late Thursday. Bad choice for me and wasted my setup and 1st month fee since it is not at all useful for me.
