Post  Title: Access numbers and DUNing

Rich
Guest
I emailed Intergate yesterday to inquire how I could find out which of their access numbers are limited, and which are unlimited <as I did with Maikaka>. No answer as of yet.

I also went to their Help area to check out their DUN procedures for Win98. Upon clicking on their Win98 Dun link, I got Connection Wizard instructions instead. Figuring they just had the links reversed, I went down and clicked on their Win98 Connection Wizard link. Yup, back to the Connection Wizard instturctions again. I've found Micro$oft's wizards tend to make too many decisions in your behalf and would rather DUN. I could probably figure out their settings, but it is a little troubling when they aren't able to provide these instructions.

Not to mention they are in Texas whereas they had flooding in the Houston area. Not suprised you had email trouble. Look at the news once in awhile. It gives clues as to why there may be and outage.

Post  Title: old feelings

Ozone,
IVWNET was fine for 1+ years for me. All of a sudden, POOF! They disappeared and phone #s stopped working, no access to email which I needed, etc. Same thing *appeared* to be happening this time... Glad to be wrong, but when you can't find anything out - for >24hours - you feel helpless...
Stuff happens. No problem. However, if they (or, in this case, someone that still had Web access during this period) had posted a temporary message explaining things, it might have been helpful to nip the ivwnet feeling.
On the other hand, if there were floods or whatever going on in my area, I might have other things to worry about than someone else's email access...
In other words, I completely understand & do not hold them responsible, but I don't think that ivwnet feeling was unfounded....

Thanks, Brandon. I've found Intergate very reliable, and figured that it was something beyond your control. Your note explaining the problem and its resolution reinforces my confidence in Intergate.

Monday evening we experienced an electrical failure in one of our network operation centers. This failure was caused by severe weather conditions and flooding in the Houston, TX. area and resulted in the temporary loss of incoming email. Our webmail feature was also disabled as a result.

Incoming email is now fully restored. All incoming email sent to your mailbox during the outage was not lost and you should recieved those messages throughout the day.

In addition to the electrical failure we experienced, the phone lines connected to our building were also damaged causing static on the lines and feature failure that would cause a busy signal on the caller's end. Southwestern Bell (SBC) is currently working to resolve these issues, we hope to have our phone lines back to normal by the end of today.

We apologize for the inconvenience this event has caused. Our staff and network administrators have been working around the clock for the past 36 hours to resolve these issues.

If you have called in and left a voicemail or sent an email concerning these problems, please treat this notification as a response to your inquiry. If you have any further questions or need further assistance please email or call us at your convenience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yup, looks much the same as the IVWNet fiasco. All the phone numbers are out of service, e-mail returned from all of the service and support addresses. Interestingly, though, at least last night I could still dial up and log in, and the outgoing SMTP server was working. Anyone gets any leads on the problem or how to get our money back, please post.

Stating that this is like IVWNET all over again is reaching way out there gd! Where do you base your misguided information? So their email server is down for the night? Who cares? Use Hotmail instead. Its always down. I get email that is 30 days old sometimes from Hotmail.

Ummm....what's going on at Intergate? I can't access my e-mail from either POP3 or web interface, and when I try to leave a trouble ticket, I get told that I'm not using my proper username.

I also am a refugee from IVWNET. Did you know that that their accounts were turned over to DialUpExtreme.com? Just go to their web site, find a local access number and dial in with the same IVWNET name and password. Your account should be honored for the length of the time you contracted with IVWNET.

Some issues: Dialupextreme is California access only;
initially, after IVWNET tanked, I had problems connecting reliably; since then, seems to be ok.

Good luck.

We do have a 6 hours session timeout and you can dial back immediately.

I have dealt with this customer on several other ISP Directories and their service was suspended for non-payment..their credit card was declined.

Thanks,

Your credit card was declined the first time, and if we did not respond to you the second time, it might be because your card was declined again.

Would you like me to have someone in our billing department call you?

Or you can email me directly at

Thanks,

We use the exact same network that IVWNET used.

It sound like you might have a DSN issue, have you forced in your DNS?

If you need help, email me directly at

Thanks,

Post  Title: SOS - Please help if you can

Ex-IVWnet
Guest
I signed up with intergate together with a few ex-ivwers.
The service from intergate is not comparable to that from ivwnet at all. In particular, I have the following problems that need your help.

1) I called intergate and I was told that I cannot cancel my account since I signed up for an annual subscription. Newcomers, be aware of it.
2) A few minutes after I dial up, I start to have the following problems, every time!
a) When I tried to access web pages, I got "The connection was refused when attempting to contact  www.yahoo.com  ..." It seems that intergate server has a very short time before it times out my request. I usually have to try 3-5 times and some times more to get to a page such as  www.yahoo.com  which is always on.
b) I also use telnet connection to my work. A few minutes after my dial-up connection, the telnet link would start to "stop-go-stop-go..." Very annoying. No comparison to ivwnet. The stopping period sometimes lasts for more than 2 minutes. That is what I cannot take. I called intergate about it and I was told to delete my connection and use connection wizard to add new connection again. I did it and the problems are still the same. Also, I have a V56 modem and I have chosen the speed of 57600 as suggested on  www.intergate.com.

Please help if you can.

Well, as luck would have it, Intergate turned out to be another turkey in the lot. Im unable to find a TOS on their site, but at anyrate, be warned, they bump you after 6 hours, and to quote an email " you SHOULD be able to log back in shortly.....give it a good 15-30 minutes". ya, right, MY a**. They dumped me last night, and Ive had nothing but 'invalid username/password" since. I dont have a prob with them putting timers on idle connections, but when im gaming, and lose connection, it tends to "ticked" me off that they just wasted about an hour of my time getting the experience lost back on my character (DAoC fyi ). Screw ALL these fly by night prix that resell through local providers.....im going back with an isp that I can walk into and stand in someones desk when they screw me. Brandon, :-P

Obviosly you can't handle true honesty. Personally I find Brandon's comments to bge very refreshing. I plan on trying this ISP and have an informed opinion. You on the otherhand should try AOL, I hear they like sweat talking people into believing there great. I'm sure the'll be sweeter to ya.

psadek

I think that this is a good one, gang. I signed up on Saturday night, and found the dialup active within a short time (I had to retype my password in the DUN window; for some reason, it apparently didn't pass correctly from Intergate's configuration software). By Sunday noon, I had already received THREE responses to questions from their technical support department.

They have three different backbone dialups even here in my mid-sized town, offer up to 100 pop3--RELIABLE--e-mail accounts which are also accesible via web interface, 100 mb of web space, no setup fee.

I'm a happy camper.

I have one note of caution: I don't recommend using their configuration software (not a dialer, just a little program to do all of your network settings for you): It completely deleted the DUN connection for my previous ISP; I had to use a system restore to retrieve the phone number for it.

OK...I'm giving it a try. I'll let you know. By the way, I also note that the account is not active quite "immediately," so I'll give them at least overnight.

Post  Title: question on switching dialup numbers

psadek

I have discovered that none of the network dialups in my locale allow truly unlimited access. However, I see that Intergate allows access floating between access numbers.

My question is this: If I "max out" the hours on one dialup, am I free to switch to one of the other networks for the remainder of the month?
