Post  Title: Juno Spam & porno

Bill Mooser
Guest
I have been a user for three years and was happy until recently when the porno and spam have gotten ridiculous.
About 90% of my email is now spam.
I'm looking elsewhere.

Read some of the comments. I recently had to cancel my Cox Cable Modem Service due to a down turn in income.

First I will say when my ability to afford Cox again returns I will return to Cable Modem. Their support, service and features are outstanding and awsome. I enjoyed downloading masive files in a minute or less, while now on dial up the same file I go watch CNN News and have a cup a coffee.

As for surfing I also spend more time getting the page especially if it has lots of grafics and mpg.

And that is the only "trouble" I have had with JUNO. I have never been kicked off - always get my mail - and no junk mail. The two ads that they post as I dial up are not that bad. I had seen worse with friends dial ups at twice the price.

Like someone else once I am on I reduce their browser and activate my IE6.

OK...Many of you do have legitimate gripes. But just considering
the Web Access for $9.95/mo I consider Juno one of the best
ISPs out there. I've been a Juno customer for over 3 years
and the number of access numbers and consistant connects at
45k+ is great. I use their software to connect then reduce the
window and use my other browser/internet softeware normally.
If you want free internet access, go elsewhere.
Email: Yes the SPAM is offensive, but you can use manual filters
to get rid of most of it.
Family internet access: I pay the $9.95/mo, my whole family
uses it.

I cancelled Juno about 6-9 months ago and got Highstream.net, a very reliable ISP which filters spam without downloading it to your email program. Juno lets you keep your email account for free after you cancel, and when I checked it after 3 months of not checking it, it downloaded 275 email messages, all spam!! Complaining to Juno technical support or is a complete waste of time -- They don't care, in fact, some of the spam is FROM JUNO! I may never check my Juno mail again. I'm very pleased with my new ISP.

I just downloaded free Juno. So far ok...I mean Cheaper than paying 23.90. But I cant seem to get my JUNO email to work.
Do i have to sign in everytime to get and send email? Is the Platinum JUNO like that?

For the last 4 months, the e-mail spam and ads have gotten worse!!! This week I have gotten 35 e-mails that were for me along with 105 spam messages and ads for porn, credit cards, get rich quick schemes and Nigerian Fraud letters asking for money. I report this to Juno and they send a form letter to me. The internet service will not work at all.

First, you just shouldn't use this company because of its deceptive business practices. They *** me into paying, telling me I used to much bandwith. Turns out EVERYONE using the free service seems to get told that. For what they charge, there are a load of companies out there -- probably few worse and most much better than Juno.

Post  Title: Juno Tech Support ***

I have been using Juno for a couple years. Until they did away with there free Phone Tech support, they were pretty good. ( Except most of their tech's can't speak English). Now you use their email tech support, and no one seems to know anything. They give the same dumb responses for all problems, even after being told their solutions don't work...I see no real advantages to their Platinum service over the free service. I tried to down grade to the free service and they ignored me...We have two sperate household accounts, and are looking HARD for a better service, with REAL tech support. that KNOWS what they are doing..I have had an on going problem with the email hanging up and saying it's processing control cabinet files. They tell me to download Marco media flash, and all that does is lock up the system.. They are NO help with this problem. I have to uninstall and reinstall Juno to TEMPORARILY fix the problem..Would I recommend JUNO H.... NO.. Anyone have an answer to the quandry??????? (for now)..

A similar thing happened to me. I was supposed to get $20 for referring my father. When he called and asked them why I didn't receive the money, they told him I would have to call. When I called, they told me he would have to call. I cancelled that day.

Juno is the absolute biggest magnet for pornographic and offensive spam, and they have no plans at all to add a spam filtering service to their email service. Don't bother with trying to manually block and write filters for each of your spam, because the spammers keep changing the address from which they are sent. Technical support is as stupid as can be about it, offering no help at all. The connections were good and reliable, but the email spam is so bad that you absolutely must cancel this horrible and offensive service.

Juno is just a mini AOHell. They bombard your e-mail with pointless offers which are sent by Juno to you. Everything about them is proprietary and you cant use POP 3 e-mail or as far as I know DUN (Dial Up Networking) to connect to their servers. I think Juno stands for "Piece of Crap ISP" in another language. I hope this expresses my feelings towards Juno :-)

This reply is to all in general and not just the one that is before it.
Juno has some issues, and I am especially trying to get past the auto disconnect feature.
When I use connection keeper, free, I am able to stay on longer, but not indefinately. But I am also paying half of what I paid for other ISP's, and they too managed to diconnect me but never assumed responsibilty: it was always my modem, etc.
That said, there are issues installing JUNO that I think has more to do with other isp's connections. JUNO has a wrok around so you can connect to JUNO even if you have AOL. (AOL's setup makes it hard to install JUNO, and their technical support says JUNO doesn't work with them)> JUNO shows you how to make it work. Or, if you get rid of AOL first (and if their set up doesn't mangle your connection) you can install JUNO with no problem.
There are still some problems, but I have always bumped into some hang ups with all ISP's: Slow connections at times, freezes, error messages. I like JUNO becuase of the way it downloads all your mail at once, which makes it easier for me to scan through what I want, and their animation/image friendly "write" screen for email.
Again, I was looking for a way to by pass being knocked off line if I step away from the computer (especially when downloading, etc.) But if you are using a download manager, or file sharing program, you can at least pick up your downloading where you left off. I've also been able to pick up dowenloading where I left off if I was downloading an update from Microsoft, etc. without a download program. I guess the info was stored in a TEMP folder.
Anyway, JUNO is a tool, and sometimes you have to learn to use the tool and work around some of its faults, which I have been able to do. I have used JUNO as my sole ISP for about 6 months now, and have been happy with it.
Thanks for listening.

I had Juno when I first got my computer. And I LOVED it. Then they started adding more and more pop up's. and kicking me off. Said service would improve if I paid more. I don't like the way they do business.

I had them and dumped them after 5 months. The service was good in the beginning and this last minth the connections were terrible. So I dumped them and went with Wal-Mart Connect. This is a lot better than junko.

The same thing happened to me. My neighbor uses Juno and he referred me . I filled out everything including adding his name when they wanted a referral. After 2 months he never received his check. He called them and they told him the same thingthat i never put in his screen name for a referral. He never got his $20.00. I think it's akk a scam to get users to use there service.
