Title: Beware is you actually USE the internet with ALCISP!
|
|
What they don't tell you is that if you are on too much, they will cancel your service. How much ir too much? It seems that anything close to 6 hours a day will get you branded as an always on connection, and they will close your account. So instead of being an unlimited service, they are actually a sub-190 hour service. False advertising, if you ask me!

Nice detective work Jlouie. Makes sense. I personally like to have whitelisting/blacklisting features for a couple bucks more. But sounds like ALCISP may be a winner for you.

I called ALC and asked about locating the same address for other providers and they stated that they out source their Billing/Customer Service to a company that handles other ISP's. Since lazynet and isp.com use them I don't see a problem with it, and they are the cheapest out of the bunch. Lazynet is $6.75 compared to ALCs $6.95 but the highspeed (what I have) is $8.95 with ALC compared to $9.75 with Lazynet.

This isp has the same address (ALCISP.com, 4720 200th ST SW STE 103, Lynnwood WA 98036 ) as Lazynet and also as one of the offices for ISP.com.
ALCISP is $6.95 and Lazynet $6.75. I believe I saw there is an additional fee for whitelisting/blacklisting with them. While this feature is included for $8.95 with ISP.com.
Could they be all one company? If so, I have used ISP.com and have been very happy with them. So hopefully you will find the same with ALCISP. Good luck!
Just to clarify. I got the address for ALCISP here on Freedomlist. For Lazynet the address here doesn't match. But it does on their website.

Title: alcisp.com - just signed on
|
|
I just signed up with ALCISP.com, so far so good. I had the tech team walk me through setting up my dialer manually, wait time wasn't long. Not the best tech support person I've ever had, but not bad. Plus no charge for calling and they didn't sound like they were outsourced over seas so that's a plus. Connection speeds are good in the Bothell, WA area, around 36-42k. I just need them for a short while so I think they'll work. I didn't see any other reviews for this company, does anyone else have this service?

I just signed up about an hour ago with ALCISP.com. Everything is going OK except I can't login to "Support" at their website in order to manage my account. That is necessary to activate the webspace, setup more emails, access billing info, etc. I emailed their support, no reply yet. I also called them on the phone and the wait times were OK, under 5 minutes. The first call got cut off. They said this could be a database problem, and it will be escalated to their engineers with a likely 1-3 day wait time before anything is done. OK, I'll wait and see.
There are 2 local dialup numbers for me. Both connect OK. One of them is usually slow, about 36 KBPS, and throughput is also slow, usually in the 20-36 KBPS range. The other one connected at 42.6 KBPS on the first try and the throughput is also OK.
The jury is still out. If they'll fix the login problem at their website so I can access Support and manage my account, then this ISP might be a keeper.
