Title: I never had an issue with Juno 5 except..
|
I never had an issue with Juno 5 except sometimes I couldn't sign on but free is free and I got on a few minutes later after that!
I used juno when I started on the net, and haven't used it since I found highspeed service buy will always love and respect this software, they don't make it as nice anymore too many bells and whistles they try to cram into software (aol) I recommend it for dialup customers I service and if they refuse highspeed, I still recommend juno 5 over even juno's new basic dialer software because of the intergrated browser and mail..too bad they don't allow free members to use the mail but you can use gmail pop mail through it but juno web as it used to be called is good premium dialupt.
I still use Juno 5.0 sometimes for kicks in 2009.... Never thought back then when it first came out that I'd still use it AT ALL but sometimes I use it for fun and memories..

I've been on DSL for a few years and decided to cut costs back to dialup, so signed up for Juno free 10 hours service for a backup. Of course a backup such as this is needed because none of the cheap dialups are perfectly reliable. I need some way to get online if the primary ISP fails. I've never used Juno before, but it went without a hitch. It appears that NetZero is the same thing, just with a different name, so could probably use it too, but probably won't need it. I'll use VTISP as my primary dialup ISP which I've used before without any problems. I'll just have to adjust to the slow access with dialup vs DSL, but I don't use the internet much anymore, so will get used to it.

I also had this problem. The cause is a "Corrupted" user file. You must delete a file in Juno called USER0000 or USER0001, USER 0002 etc which ever is the USER that is not working. After deleting the USER0000 account try to log back onto JUNO. You should get a message that states that the USER account is missing, and do you want JUNO to create a new USER account. Answer yes. A new USER account will be created and JUNO works! You might have to re-start JUNO first.
To locate the USER0000 (or USER0001, etc) file use Explorer and travel to C:\Program Files\USER0000 (or where ever your JUNO program is located on your hard drive). Move this file to another location on your hard drive, the file contains your address book. Open JUNO as descrived above. If JUNO works, check to see if your address book is in the new USER0000 file. If not go to the old USER0000 file and extract the address book files addrbook.bak and addrbook.nv. Do not transfer any of the mailbox files, they are probably the cause of the "Corrupt" user file. Hope this helps.

One thing you can do is try to retrieve new e-mail when the cursor is highlighting a text only message.
Some of the e-mail messages we receive have a lot of junk imbedded which cause JUNO to behave this way.

Title: JUNO e-mail is pretty good
|
|
Guest
I'm a happy JUNO user.
I have no trouble sending e-mail or going on-line with the free version (although don't have to do that.)
It is so easy to use JUNO (version 5) mega mail that I recommend it for any senior citizen who might be intimidated by some of the on-line e-mail services.
At 8.95/year it's quite a bargain

I want to stop being charge $9.95 per month for JUNO dial up, since I have not been able to connect in six months. The only number I can find will charge my credit card $1.95/minute while I wait for someone to ans. and tell me they can't help me. I can't afford to pay for a internet service that I am not using because they don't have a ISP provider that works with most computer. Are there any legal steps I can take to get them to stop debiting my card each much for service they know they are not providing? Isn't that illegal?[quote |
I had the same exact problem with them.I found a 9.95
on bank account for a service i cancelled over a year ago.
i called and was given the run around.Tehy said they could not reverse the charge and could not give me any physical address or person to write too...what is my next step ?

The only thing is you can have your bank challenge the charge or drop your account but then they might turn you over to collection agency.

Sorry so many seem to have a bad time with juno.I have been using juno for 10 years and have very few problems. I have had the free that I keep when I am at home and I love the webmail when ever I am anywhere else. No problems to report here.

Free Service Plan - 10 hours per month. Lots of banner ads. Web mail is better now with 1 Gb storage but includes ads on downloads and Juno ad partners. Suggest as a backup Isp on the free service plan. Use another Isp to access Juno Web mail otherwise it's very slow to access. A plus on Juno is that web mail accounts sign up do not require an alternate email account address for sign up although one is recommended on a loss of password.

Forget Juno. Once you run over your 10 hours a month, they try to sell you the paid version. I used less than 3 hours one month and am permanently "banned" to use only between 4:00 and 6:00 am. If you need cheap, just get All2easy ($4.95) or VTISP ($3.95) which give you at least 150 hours a month each. No ads, banners, etc. Works very well without all of the problems.

I have heard good things about juno. My question is, is it really free. I can still surf the internet and receive and send emails. If this is true, it would really help my pocket book. thanks.
